Was David instructed to do what he did? God had aways instructed the OT men on what to do.

Again I make clarification: being overly dependent on it is what I have always been against. O answered that question before. Perhaps you didnt notice it. Now I ask you again, not in the form of a riddle, what os the root of America and guns?

Then why do you write most of your posts with the tone that Gun owners must not have faith in God? Who has expressed an exorbitant dependence on guns here? No one. it would seem that most (if not all) of the gun owners and users who have posted in the thread are conservative types who clearly understand reasonable use and limits. Perhaps you didn't notice that? Defensive types of firearms (handguns) are typically woefully inadequate for the task because their really not very powerful. Hence the longtime debates on stopping power and so forth. There are more powerful handguns which are seriously powerful, but these ones are too large for typical defensive use because of their size and weight and are generally used for hunting. So in reality...there is lots and lots of room for a lot of faith in God to be with us when we are armed.

regarding David....Uhh, I'm not sure. Was he? If he was, so what? So he obeyed God. Are you implying that we are not to defend ourselves unless we have specific instruction from God Himself? What about Jesus telling the disciples, if you don't have a sword go sell your cloak and buy one? What was that about, if not to defend themselves? Oh, you have two swords? ok, that's enough. i take that to mean, that...have something to defend yourself with...but don't go overboard about it and idolize it. And so what was that, if not instruction? Jesus is God too brother.

If David was not instructed to go kill Goliath, then, he showed good instincts, good motive and intent in his heart, so God was with him. So either way...I guess I'm missing your point there, in asking if David was instructed.

What is the root of America and guns? To shake off an oppressive government and go independent and be able to survive. So? Does that make guns evil? of course it would be nice if no one had to actually prepare themselves with deadly force to be able to live in this world. but this world is steeped in sin and evil people and spiritual beings, so, a mans gotta do, what a mans gotta do.

thank you for clarifying that you are very serious about this brother. It reveals to me that you speak out against guns from an uninformed position and have a view of them that is obviously shaped by the world media and television. An uninformed and highly emotional viewpoint.

Blessings upon you and your household brother.

How many of us believe Ps. 127:1?

Sure i do. Are you under the impression that the lord shaped this world into what it is now? Sin did this to the world, not God. our God is a God of peace and love. Sin built this up in vain, because God will win.

You cant be hundred per cent sure on Christ's intent regarding the sword stuff. Did He really mean physical sword? Why did He rebuke Peter when he cut off an ear?

I didnt say that our posters here are gun-centered or freaks, did I? The idea that everyone can own a gun is what that really baffles me. How much protection has gun use offered? How much insecure would people be when it is banned - (Cops can use)?

What do I wrestle against? I'd prefer power! I'd prefer principalities.

Maybe a time shall come when guns will become ineffective and cannons insignificant. It is a corrupt world, right? I need a bomb?

What? Christ wasn't talking about having a sword, when he told them to go buy a sword? Uhhh, ok Classik, lol. What's your interpretation then? What did He mean? And when the disciples said yes Lord we have two swords here...what do you suppose they were talking about? boy oh boy, i just have no idea, lol. :lol

Why did He rebuke Peter and heal the guys ear? I can think of 3 reasons off the top of my head. Jesus's time had come and He didn't want violence or a perception of sin to be associated with His arrest, He wanted to show gods power (of healing) to bring glory to His father, and His time had come to be crucified and pay the price for our sin that we may live. So why fight His way out of it? that's what He came to do, to be killed. You don't think that Jesus couldn't have taken them if He desired to? Ha! But that wasn't His agenda. So in summary...times and seasons brother.

No, you didn't outright say it, but you heavily imply it all over the place in your posts. In fact, early in the thread, you said that you're here to vilify guns, and so you concentrate on denigrating people who own guns and try to associate it with a lack of faith in God. So...yeah. I have pretty good comprehension brother, and that's what you're basically saying. That it baffles you that anyone can own a gun is...a difficulty that you have and is neither here nor there for the discussion.

how much protection has gun use offered? uh, well, having a gun has saved me, my (ex) wife, and my friends butt a few times. I had two guys try to rob me and my wife when she was late term pregnant and they could have harmed our unborn baby very easily (until I put a stop to it), Me and my friend were attacked by a big dog once which i turned with a warning shot into the grass, and I thwarted an attack and attempted home invasion upon myself a few years back...so I can personally say that guns have offered me and my family very much protection.

I prefer battling principalities also. They are much easier to deal with than people. One mention of Jesus's name and they run. Human people will laugh and keep coming.

And so now you try to equate gun ownership with bomb ownership huh? So what are guns now Classik? A gateway killing device and when you buy a 22 then, it's only a matter of time before you're building bombs? Bwahahahahaha! you crack me up brother! That is extreme thinking and...sounds...well, let's just say that it's absurd and detracts from your credibility towards any type of serious discussion of this issue, lol. :rofl2

You are Hilarious, sir. Hehe!

I didnt equate it to bombs. I said, even guns wont achieve 100 per cent protection. Even with dynamites and nukes all around someone, the someone can still be attacked. Does that make sense?

Yeah, that makes sense. i said that a couple times in the thread. having a gun can help but there's still a whooole lot of room for having faith and being helped and protected by God.

Guns are simply for those moments of exigent circumstances where there is not time to go into prayer. The other two or three good reasons to own guns is that, they're fun, and they can be a wonderful teaching tool for the children, and they can put meat on the table. What kind of insurance policy can do all that for you?

Man, those two guys who tried to rob me and my wife absolutely freaked when I put my hand on my gun in the holster. boy, I never made new friends so fast in my life, lol! One guy pretty much fell down onto the ground, and the other one raised his hands and backed up! it never left the holster. :)
Whoa! We all friends here...lol. :hug

Attach seriousness to how things should be used and no criminal geys access to stuff easily.

Gary, you will be fine without guns also. True?

I don't need a gun. I have God.

But I'm not going to try and restrict or speak out against an individuals right to own one.

If an individual doesn't like guns, don't own one. It's that easy.

What you don't seem to understand is, the criminals already have guns.

Did you watch any of the videos I posted?

What are your thoughts on the crime statistics in Australia after everyone except the criminals surrendered their guns?
