I like to watch some scam artists/televangelists, usually the ones on infomercials late at night.

Jimmy Swaggert is trying to sell expensive bibles now, for about $100 a pop I think. Never too high a price for a holy book I guess.

I think my favorite though is Peter Popoff. He has been exposed some years back as a scam artist, but he is still doing his thing. He lays it on real thick and even offers to send out free miracle spring water. How sweet.

No I am not and I never will be. And what he says below is good enough for me.

I believe in one God. I believe in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I believe that these three are distinct and separate in their function. Their distinctives are so separate that each has individual attributes, yet they are one. I do not believe in three Gods†(italics mine). Responding to attacks vis-à-vis his non-evangelical views, Jakes said he wasn’t worried that the heretic label would stick. “Controversy goes with the turf . . . . [the accusations] didn’t hurt me at all. It gave me an opportunity to give clarity to what my convictions were to what I believe. And having done that, it seems not to be an issue to people, and it certainly wasn’t an issue to me.’â€Â

And what does he mean that each has "individual attributes"? His he suggesting that each has seperate or unique attributes unto themselves?

It means just what it says. Does not the Holy Ghost have a certain job that He performs' and son and so on. But I will not continue to defend this man. And I am not a modelist and I will continue to watch and listen to T.D. Jakes.

I agree that each has their own responsibilities and functions - however, they all share the same attributes - they do not have individual attributes.

sigh, but prayfully consider who this man really is...

I get a lot out of T.D. Jakes' he teaches me how to live. If you guy's don't no problem. But you see' I and millions of others don't have issues with the man. And I will continue to get a lot out of him.

Oh man, deceptioninthechurch.com has some really good stuff. I use their sources sometimes myself. 8-)

I tend to think that most televangelists are more interested in the rectangular green god than the one above. But there could be an exception or two. JMHO...

heaven, sadly I have to agree with you. I know it takes money to run a business but it always seems like it comes down to them begging for money every time they speak.

Sad but true...The irony of this....

I like to listen to preachers that really teach odd things in the bible---- and I'm not talking Christianity 101 such as the nature of the trinity, Christ's atoning work and "victorious living". Can't have any of that unless one is willing to dig deeper---- very deep.

I used to listen to one such fellow, but after a while his shows were repeats and now he passed away. Right now, it's nobody. Takes a lot to pass my muster. That does not mean I won't listen to a sermon on occasion on the media, but its mostly "establishment" preaching where it's all Christianity 101 or an extension to it.

Referring to the rectangular green god, unfortunately that is the type of preachers that are out there because that's what the populace tolerates. When a preacher like mine was on, they rather ban him. The ideas seem too cultic to them. But when the ideas (no matter how strange they seem) come from the bible, they are in the realm of orthodoxy and following the biblical mandate:

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

Even on forums, what do people keep debating? The nature of God, the nature of sin, free will vs. predestination, the future doctrine of things, judgments, etc. that's all Christianity 101 and repetitious 'altar call' theology.

I am slowly starting to mature in my faith and it is getting a little more prevalent when they are teaching false doctrine. Or at least something I need to research a little deeper.

A few of the televangelists / radio vangelists I have watched / listened to (would do so if given the opportunity again):

Pastor Mark Jeske - Time of Grace
Stuart and Pete Brisco - Telling The Truth
Dr. Michael Youssef - Leading The Way (I have only caught a few of his sermons)

Two peoples whose ministry I appreciate are:

Warren Wiersbe
Ravi (I know I am going to mispell his last name) Zacharias.
