I am from South Louisiana. We were in the direct path of Laura. My kids and I evacuated to my parents who live in North Louisiana. The storm ended up passing right over their area. It was getting really bad and I began praying to god to please protect my family. I find myself turning to prayer in times of trouble, even though I have doubts. My dad looked outside during the storm and a giant tree was being uprooted. The tree ended up falling the opposite way of the house. If it would have fallen the other way it would have been right on top of us. I like to think God had a hand in this and I am so thankful we are all ok. I think I should pray to God more on a daily basis instead of waiting until things are getting tough to reach out.

I think you are right. We shouldn't wait for our life to turn pear-shaped. We need to show gratitude with a capital G.

It does my heart good to read this and that you are drawing closer to the Lord in faith. He most defiantly there in our time of need as Jesus makes intercession before the Father on our behalf when we send our prayers up to Him.
God bless you heart as you continue to grow your faith in Christ.
