Bible Study The Actual Lie of the Serpent and Satan, and its Relation to False Teachings

Hello fellow believers in Jesus Christ, I would like to open a discussion with the following study,

There are many who believe that the lie of the serpent was him telling Eve that they would become like God, but was this actually so? Lets take a look at what the serpent told Eve,
"You will not certainly die," the serpent said to the woman."For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."(Genesis 3:4-5 [ABP])

And did Adam and Even become like God knowing good and evil after they ate of the forbidden fruit? They did, as even this passage affirms,
And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." (Genes 3:22 [NIV])

So indeed Adam and Eve did become like God, knowing good and evil as God knows good and evil. So what was the actual lie that the serpent uttered? The lie the serpent uttered was "you will not certainly die", which opposed what God had said,
but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die." (Genesis 2:17 [NIV])

This was the first lie mankind was deceived by, in which case it was the woman that was deceived by it, and herein is also why Satan is called the father of lies, because he was the first to speak a lie,
You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44 [ESV])

So what was the actual sin Adam and Eve committed? The sin Adam and Even committed was disobeying the command from God to not eat of the forbidden fruit, as the command was, "you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil", yet they then ate in disobedience of it. The purpose behind the serpent lying to Eve was to get her to disobey this command, in which case she then believed the serpent and ate, which is why it is said here that she was deceived, meaning she believed this lie,
And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. (1 Timothy 2:14 [NIV])

It was when she ate, that she then became a sinner, because she disobeyed the command, and also Adam became a sinner, because he ate too, although it was the woman alone that was deceived by the serpent.

This lie also became the first false teaching given to mankind by Satan, as it was he who taught the woman this lie, that she then believed, which caused her to disobey. This first false teaching relates to all false teachings that exist even today, as they all have one and the same purpose, to get you to believe them, which will then cause you to disobey God. So therefore, it behooves anyone who wishes to be saved, to unlearn every and all false teachings, as you cannot know how to be obedient to God if you believe lies. Some examples of modern day false teachings and lies are,
  • Women have the right to abort unborn babies. If you believe this then you will commit murder in disobedience to this command in the Law of Moses,
You shall not murder. (Exodus 20:13 [NIV])

  • It is okay to use contraceptives. If you believe this, then you will commit the sin of Onan mentioned in the Law of Moses, which was wicked to God,
But Onan knew that the child would not be his; so whenever he slept with his brother's wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from providing offspring for his brother. What he did was wicked in the LORD's sight; so the LORD put him to death also. (Genesis 38:9-10 [NIV])

  • It is okay to divorce and remarry. If you believe this, then you will commit adultery if you divorce and touch another woman, which is in disobedience to what Jesus himself spoke, which the Law of Moses states to listen to him,
The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him. (Deuteronomy 18:15 [NIV])

He answered, "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her. And if she divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery."(Mark 10:11-12 [NIV])

  • It is impossible to ever stop sinning because we are sinners, so we will always keep sinning. If you believe this, then you will continue sinning in plain disobedience of these sayings,
She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.” (John 8:11 [ESV])

Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Matthew 5:48 [NIV])

No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. (1 John 3:9 [NIV])

  • We don't have to live humble lives, that was something of the past that only pertained to Jesus and the apostles. If you believe this, then God will not give you his holy spirit, because he resists the proud that make themselves rich, as it was taught by Jesus,
Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." (Matthew 19:21 [NIV])

The LORD resists the proud, but gives favor to the humble. (Proverbs 3:34 [ABP])

  • The Law of Moses is obsolete. If you believe this, then you will commit sins against commands in the Law of Moses, that have not been done away and must still be obeyed literally,
Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:19 [NIV])

  • It is okay to get rich, there were men in the old testament that were rich, like Solomon. If you believe this, then you will pursue wealth, in which case it is in disobedience to Jesus when he teaches us how to serve God, in which case one aspect of serving God is not pursuing money, which is why he instructed all to sell possessions, as he says,
No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. (Matthew 6:24 [NIV])

Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." (Mark 10:21 [NIV])

  • We receive holy spirit as soon as we believe in Jesus. If you believe this, then if you actually haven't received holy spirit, which always comes with a sign that you received it, such as prophesying or speaking in different languages, then you will believe that you have it when you actually don't. And having holy spirit is necessary for salvation, and you can never truly stop sinning without holy spirit, so you will find yourself still disobeying God, and not yet belonging to Christ, as you do not yet belong to Jesus Christ until you receive holy spirit,
You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. (Romans 8:9 [NIV])

  • Once I believe in Jesus Christ I am saved, I don't need to do anything else, and whenever I sin, I will always be forgiven, as I am already saved. If you believe this, then you will find yourself disobeying God continually, and eventually being cast out in the day of judgment as a worker of iniquity,
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Matthew 7:23 [KJV])
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. (James 2:17 [NIV])
Do you see the pattern here? Every lie and false teaching causes someone to disobey God in one way or another, obstructing someone from reaching the full stature of Jesus Christ,
until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, (Ephesians 4:13 [ESV])

This is why it is of utmost importance to unlearn every false teaching, because if you believe in lies, you cannot know how to truly follow God and attain the full stature of Christ necessary for salvation.

For the most part I am with you, but have somethings I do not agree with as explained below.

The flesh will always sin as there are none that are perfect in the flesh. We know flesh and Spirit can not mix and when we allow the flesh to take over the Spirit this allows sin to enter in. Gods grace will always forgive a sincere heart that asks for forgiveness.

Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
(This verse does not say they will be like God, but they will be as gods as in being their own god.)

Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
(They did not physically die as what died was their fellowship with God as they disobeyed His command.)

Does God permit divorce; no he does not for what God has joined together as one flesh let no man separate it, Matthew 19:6. God joined man and woman together before sin entered into the hearts of man and woman, Genesis 2:18. When woman was deceived by the serpent in Genesis 3:1-13 and gave the man to eat of the fruit, man forgot what God told them not to do and they both tried to hide from God, but God knew what they had done and now was sin entered into the hearts of man and woman. This is why we are all now born with a sin nature because of the fall of man. Sin soon was found where no truth of God could be found. Mans hearts were now filled with the lust of the eyes and lust of the heart. Man sought after his own pleasures and soon made gods of their own to worship and bow down to. These gods were a way for man to justify their own pleasures.

There was a man named Moses that God did find favor in and through using Moses as a faithful servant established what we call the Mosaic laws or Levitical laws which there are over 613 laws. These laws were established for man to make them once again righteous in the eyes of God and turn from the evil that filled their hearts. Jesus came to fulfill the law, not to abolish it.

Even with the laws God gave to Moses for the people, mans sin hardened hearts now turned to fornication, lust of self and covertness of others property including another mans wife. New laws were added continuously for the transgressions of man and this is how we got the law for divorce which was handed down by Moses in Deuteronomy 24:1-4.

1 Corinthians 7:10, Jesus commands the woman not to leave her husband and if she does she should remain unmarried, but in Malachi 2:10-16 the treachery that man commits against a woman which leads him to have an affair outside of the marriage or abuses the wife whether it be physical or emotional gives place to what was said by Moses in Deuteronomy 24:1-4 that if a woman is no longer pleasing to her husband then the husband should give his wife a written bill of divorcement and send her out of the house and this gives the woman the right to marry again, but she can never go back to her former husband if that marriage does not work out or her husband dies for now she is defiled to be with her first husband and this is an abomination to God.

1John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1John 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
1John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

1John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
1John 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
1John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
