I am fairly confident that the man who has heard God praise Him never has a wrong attitude about that experience or himself or God or if that temptation arises, it will be dealt with rather rapidly. And I am also sure God does not think ill of the man who wants to get God's praise. No parent is displeased when their offspring make such choices that show they want to please their parents. Normally they are pleased even with that being of value to the child.I think this clears up luke 17:10. From what I found this looks to me there talking about humbling yourself before god. so I dont think this has to do with god not praising us entirely. I think god dose praise us but dosnt want us to look at it with a negative or bad attitude.
When we start to feel like were christians doing all things to get gods praise or we feel like we do way more than others or feel holier than others this wont get you gods praise. We cant go above and beyond. Like how the jews felt about themself in old testament. Then jesus basically was saying they look good on the outside but are dead on the inside.
Anyway here is a bible study commentary I found and read and do agree with what there saying.
Now no one who hears God praise them thinks that they are holier than others. That attitude itself deeply displeases God, the opposite of pleasing Him, which you, of course, see as well. So if one wants to please God, one nips those kinds of thoughts in the bud or no praise will be forthcoming. The reason is because God is generally pleased with particular choices, not the whole of a man's life, same as with parents. So that is limiting. This is like Jesus praising Peter's response as to who he is and yet shortly thereafter rebuked Peter for being Satan's mouth piece.
