The blessings of God are the manifestation of His marvelous grace and are greatly desired by all of us. But Christians everywhere have needs and desires that are unfulfilled even though they know from the bible, that our heavenly Father loves us and is most desirous of blessing us;

"exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think" Ephesians 3:20. and yet, most of us settle for a bare minimum of the blessings God has stored up for us. Why is that? The answer is best exemplified in children.

A teenager that has not learned to love and respect his parents has only a surface relationship with them that sometimes becomes hostile-there is very little communication between them. Without communication, there is very little guidance for a young person that is not capable of living life successfully.

The parents can put a roof over his head and food in his mouth-things that are necessary for anyone, but that is where his blessings end. without communication, that teenager receives no wisdom or guidance or character training-things that are necessary to live life successfully.

The above statement is probably how we all have come up in life of some sort of way, until we learn to take his yoke upon us to live by faith.

Love always, Walter :)

How does taking up HIS yoke reconcile with receiving HIS blessings?

It would seem that one cancels out the other.

How does one NOT have a surface relationship?

I remember when Jesus said to take his yoke upon you and learn of me, because it is easy and his burden is light, after repentance from dead works, The Lord knows whether or not have you done so in receiving his blessings.

I think his yoke is to keep his sayings, he left us an example to follow in following his steps, If one do not follow, then any person I think, would not have a relationship with him, because that person can not train up a child in the way that he or she can go.

It would seem to me that, One cancels out the other, whatever the case may be, just trust and obey his words of life and lean not to your own understanding.

Jesus said also that, if you abide in me and my word in you, ye shall ask what you will and I will grant it unto you.

We're speaking about

Mathew 11:29-30
28“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
29“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.
30“For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

The Jews were tired of following all the laws and rules from the Mosaic Covenant, or Old Covenant.

So many rites to keep...
So much to remember.

Jesus wanted to show them a new way...
The Two Great Commandments HE taught would make life easier...

Instead of trying to remember everything we should do...
the love of the Holy Spirit within each believer will make that person do what he is supposed to do in love.

Not always!
And this is what I would call sin....missing the mark God has set for us.

Also, if we follow Jesus our daily worries seem to be made easier to bear. It's as if when we think of heaven....worldly cares become less in comparison to something so great. I have no better explanation of this.

And yet, in Matthew 16:24 Jesus tells us that if we are to follow Him, we must take up our cross daily and deny ourselves.

When we think of only ourselves, we become selfish and it becomes difficult to be happy or pleased with ourselves. When we think of others, we end up being pleased with ourselves.
I suppose the question is: What are we doing in this life anyway?

Amen, As I think about the above, I would have to say that to do all things pleasing in his sight.

Right.
And when we don't...we ask forgiveness.
I hear these days that we're not supposed to ask for forgiveness because all is already forgiven.

I like the old-fashioned way!
Amen, yeah, I know that I'm glad for the old fashioned way also. :clap
