There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.
Proverbs 14:12


We as Christians have a choice to make each day.

We have the choice to live according to the old man which grows corrupt, which is our flesh that is indwelt with the nature of sin, or to live according to the new man, the divine nature of Christ, that is indwelt and empowered by the Spirit.

To live according to the flesh.
To live according to the Spirit.

• the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; 19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 20 But you have not so learned Christ, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. I hope to stimulate a healthy discussion about what Christians believe about living a life that is pleasing and right with the Lord, and the effort that is required to obey the desires of the Spirit, rather than the desires that arise from our flesh.

is a every day job take off the old man put on the new man . we take off put on is compared to clothing put on and took off . but it is matter of choice

Every morning when you awake start at that moment to set your mind on Christ and carry that through out the day no matter what the day tries to bring against you.

I voted no in the sense that we are no longer our own if we are truly in Christ and He in us, John 15:1-6.

I believe John 15:1-6 teaches us we are to cooperate with His Life and Spirit that is working in us to do His will which is being fruitful.

IOW we never lose our ability to choose to walk in righteousness by obeying and yielding to His leading rather than than obeying and yielding to the unrighteous desires that come from our flesh.


Paul says it this way to the Romans-


God who “will render to each one according to his deeds”: eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, Romans 2:6-8


Key Verse -

to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness

• those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth
• but obey unrighteousness

This is where I see the choice.

Luke 9:23 NKJV

Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me."

A few weeks ago I went to bed and closed my eyes. Immediately I saw Jesus (my eyes were still closed), He was standing looking at me. He wore a bright white robe and there was a golden light shining around Him. Then I noticed Jesuswas carrying a cross in His hand. I hung my head thinking of the suffering I had caused Him. He stretched His arm out handing the cross to me. I took it but I found it hard to carry, so I put it across my back and shoulders so that I could always wear it. Then Jesus disappeared. I felt this was a strong message and I am working in the message to follow Him in every day.
The human flesh is so full of 'self' and that's what I want to get rid of.
We have the choice to follow Jesus and obey where the Holy Spirit leads us. But I have a long way to go.

We have the choice to follow Jesus and obey where the Holy Spirit leads us. But I have a long way to go.

Well said.

I have found that separating myself from worldly sights and sounds, and spending time with Him in worship, is a key to dying to my selfish desires.

This is what is called consecration.

It is the process of sanctification.

This is the key to the renewing of the mind which leads to transformation.

The more my mind is renewed, the more I am able to embrace the harder truths in the scriptures, which leads to walking in more truth.
