The Church & Caesar

Same reason that that other organizations don't pay their taxes - the LAW states that they do not OWE any taxes.
Why would we tax an organizations whose sole purpose is to do good in the world? No matter if it is the local Baptist church or the local charitable food bank - we don't tax them.

And by extension, we allow you to give your money to such organizations and the amount you give them is not taxed as income.

There is a thin line there. I dont see many churches doing good, there either decieving people or purchasing 1000 inch screens and mercedes benz and holiday homes under church expenses, the church needs it all for charity.

Doesn't it say pay to Caesar what is Caesars, and God's what is God's.

(Isn't Caesar the tax man)

Yeah, I think he is.

(Then why doesn't the church pay their taxes)

I guess because the tax man doesn't read the bible.
If Caesar doesn't demand taxes from churches, then how are they not rendering to Caesar what is Caesar's? You would have a case if churches had to pay taxes and didn't but churches don't have to, so there really is no argument.

Free I think she is missing the point that "pay to Caesar what is" can refer to any tax not specifically church tax.

Luke
1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.
2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

Caesar had the title of Pontifex Maximus, which later was given to the Pope. I guess you could send money to the Pope if you want.
Churches are government subsidized, in a sense, since they are a business that doesn't pay taxes.

churches are a business, you got that right.

People voluntaraly pay to listen to man. I mean, they could charge an entry fee, but that would be a bit to obvious, and they might have to pay taxes, so its easier just to bring up the one verse 'Jesus likes a giver', or the tithe that has nothing to do with the church to buy all the luxuries it wants.

You remind me very much of a Taoist.

Church rides the State. It dont matter how small or how big they are, they all run the same systems and the people at the top all make a lifestyle out of it, and some may say my pastor dont have much drive a crappy old car we a small good church, yea but if it was rolling in 10 million a week it would be a different story. Its just they not established, like a small business.

churches say donate and make money off the bible just like a charity shows a picture of a dying starving child and says please donate while the ceo is living the dream. How sick is it to use a picture of a dying starving child to bring in donations only to take a cut.

Why on earth would any church ever have to even mention donations, or even a donate sign for ministries if it had faith and was from God. Megachurches already established in there filth dont need to say it as much as they have there loyal paying frequent customers.

Did Jesus Christ, Peter, Paul or any Prophet in the bible ever ask for or need donations? . Even Peter when he recieved the first thing he did was re distribute it out. He didnt build a tower or take a cut, he dont want no part of that.

Turn back to scripture and listen to Jesus Christ and the Prophets.
