This excellent, but long, article by the late Timothy Keller that points out some significant issues that he saw in 2022, and which are significantly worse since then due in large part to the unholy matrimony of Republicanism with Fundamentalism. (He differentiates between Fundamentalism and Evangelicalism, but shows why both get lumped into Evangelicalism by both Progressives and Fundamentalists.)

I wonder why he would suggest to me being married to a full fledged liberal who believes in abortion at any month ,transgender rights .

don't assume these aren't in your church or area of reach . the vice mayor and later mayor of the city I work for is a lady who owns a gay bar and has drag shows .

she protested the immigration policy of desantis and Trump and well the sheriff stepped in and under Florida law the sheriff can fire the police chief and have authority over any law agency in his county .the governor can fire sheriff's for not following his laws

she wasn't alone but the protest suddenly died and the police follow the state .

I personally know of busts of immigrants and human traffic rings .that house was one I turned on after ice came in removed the immigrants and it was the sheriff ,ice ,dea, and of that did that .

There's a story about 15 blind men and each was put in various positions around and elephant. They were told to describe the elephant. This resulted in 15 different descriptions. By way of analogy, the varying causes that go into this analysis are so many and so difficult to assess that one can but speculate as to the accuracy of the commentary. In the end, God is the First Cause of all things and His methodology does not need to follow human philosophy. I grant that human speculation from one individual can be entertaining.

IMO

I will say…from personal experience….

I do believe that God is in control. I sometimes honestly wonder 💭 if we aren’t fast approaching the end times largely because the love of many has grown cold. Ex Christians and then people who are filled with hate towards others but claim to love Jesus. And the generally more affluent more intellectually inclined groups of Christians…say the Presbyterian groups…

They still have influence within certain spheres but those spheres are shrinking dying even.

The cruelty at the heart of fundamentalist groups is a frightening thing to behold, indeed. Just…personal experience…
