The devil is so proud

I was amused when I saw this online: A curious poster said,

Why can't the devil just swallow up his pride and go plead with GOD for Mercy and Forgiveness so we could all go back to the Garden of Eden and live happily NAKED?

The poster fails to note that the devil's heart is already hardened. Also God wouldn't change HIS mind! Christ wouldn't die in vain

..

The devil is not a human to repent, I think.

That should remind us of a repent, rather than reminding of the devil.

That's brilliantly put.

(But if the persecutor of man should quit messing up the world...perhaps man would find reasons to heave a sigh of relief):D

The bible tells us when God created Lucifer He was the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. Lucifer was the minister of music. Likely He was the highest angel. He was so persuasive, He convince one-third of the angels to rebel against God (note where free will came from). He didn't like being second best, He wanted to be God. So Lucifer felled because of pride.

Note: even after Lucifer fall from heaven, not even Michael the archangel dared to stand up against Him without the Lord's help.

But God being omniscient knew that Lucifer would fall, right? God is a mystery.

The devil is just a part of the natural order of things. Just like when we were given the tree, so we could have free will.

Regardless, we have to keep in mind that his power is limited. His power is subject to the will of God. A great example of this is when the Devil wanted to destroy the household of Job. He asked, and God allowed him to tempt Job. The devil is a created being, just like us. He cannot be everywhere at once, knowing every thought, just like God. In reality, he probably doesn't even care. He knows that he will lose in the end, but his pride probably deceives him.

If GOD knew Lucifer would sin, where is free will? Lucifer is Adam; and all of us are his children except Jesus Christ, because GOD is HIS FATHER! Just read GEN 1 - 3. and take it literally, for GOD cannot lie!

If God DIDN'T know, he wouldn't be all powerful, would he?

There is a difference between knowing, and doing. God didn't force the devil to rebel, but he knew he would. Knowing FATE doesn't mean you control somethings destiny. You simply know where it will end up.

That's a good way of putting it, God's love is never forced. Even the devil made a choice. Another way of looking at it, is that there is a purpose in God's will so there is a purpose for the devil tempting us. I think that God uses the devil to test our Faith because He is teaching us to trust Him. Having our Faith tested is a good thing because it builds our character in God, to be more Christlike, but God will never give you more than you can handle. 1 Corinthians 10:13
