And it’s much easier to trust the Lord if we have repented of our sin.

I think the trust came first. As scripture says , it is the goodness of God that draws a man to repentance.
I do believe this is what is being said here:

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 4:17 RSV

No, I complain all the time.

All I need is peace of mind. What good is "paradise" if you are scared to death all the time?
