The fear of God

Wow! That was quite a testimony, Atonement. I am glad you didn't stay where you were but became a Christian. 8-)

ChristineES, I know if I was were I was 17yrs ago, I would not be here today. I know that with all my heart. The drugs alone would have probably killed me. I came to many close encounters with death in the 5yrs of my "dark years." It's was only by God's grace that I am where I'm at today..

Thankyou Atone for your testimony. The Lord is good!

You are very welcome Mutzrein, though to me it's just a simple testimony. Though the Lord has used my testimony on the radio through Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque by Pastor Skip Heitiz and Greg Laurie. Halloween of 1993 Calvary Chapel rented out an arena here in Albuquerque, I was the gust speaker. Through my testimony, that Haloween night I seen hundreds of young people come to the Lord.. I'm not prideful.. But I'm grateful.. The Lord is very good, the Lord has used me, and continues to use me, and has given me this place also to witness to others. God Bless Mutzrein..

Atone,
As one who has spent a lifetime being abused by satanist, I have to say that I am proud to have you as a brother in Christ.

Nothing but the love of Jesus Christ could bring two people who have been on the opposite sides of the darkside together that way.

God bless you brother.

KJV Prov 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning or chief part of knowledge. If a man wants to be wise, the place to begin is in reverencing God and in trusting and obeying Him.

What is more reasonable than that the creature should trust his Creator? On the other hand, what is more illogical than for a man to reject God’s Word and to live by his own hunches? The wise thing to do is to repent of one’s sins, trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and then live for Him wholeheartedly and devotedly.

Fools despise wisdom and instruction. Just as a wise man in this book is one who is willing and anxious to learn, a fool is one who cannot be told anything. He is intractable and conceited, and only learns lessons the hard way, if at all.

I do know that the Bible speaks more of hell than it does heaven. I think the Fear of the Lord is recognizing Who He is and what He can do. We are told not to fear those who can kill the body but to fear Him Who can destroy both body and soul in hell. It is also having a healthy respect for Him. I have no fear of satan, for he can nothing to me that God does not allow. I have no fear of death because I have been forgiven since May 18, 1963 when I was 17. I have no fear of hell for the same reason just mentioned. I am FORGIVEN! "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." Proverbs 9:10. Proverbs 1:7 says "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge."

How many of us have heard the term; The fear of the Lord?
. . . .

What is the fear of the Lord?

Things to ponder..

To have experienced the following verse in some degree or measure:
It's a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the Living God.

In Christ: Stranger

This man who now I found out is on TBN 'Dwight Thompson' came up to me, took one look and laid his hands on me.

That's one preacher that I always liked to hear...he left TBN a long time ago and went to CA from what I remember. Talk about a hell-fire preacher! I dont think this red-headed Texan was as off the wall as most on that program. I have several of his tapes even.

"Fear of the Lord" to me means a total respect and reverance to a Holy God. Walking in the fear of the Lord - Keeping a continually tender conscience; abhorring all sin; having respect to every Divine precept; dreading to offend him from whom the soul has derived its being and its blessings. Without this fear of God there never can be any circumspect walking.

As I sat in Church yesrterday pondering The false teaching of 7th day adventice, JW, New agers, It dawned on me.

Without the fear of Hell, there is no fear of the Lord.
With out the fear of Hell, Christians would not have heaven to look forward to.
I praise God with all my heart that I have heaven to look forward to.

Is is possible to believe in heaven, but not hell?
What does the bible say about this?
What does eternal Life mean?
What does is mean to recieve the crown of life?
What is the fear of the Lord?

Things to ponder..

The fear of the Lord should come from knowing that God is just. He is patient, but he will not endure foolishness forever. When He gets angry, He is something to fear.

It is so dangerous to speak against God. It is also dangerous to speak against a man of God. Or a 'move' of God. I have learned to ask the Lord if a thing is of Him or a deceptive work of the enemy of the cross. Some of Gods finest people are foolish in the eyes of the world. Some of the slickest folks that satan has raised up appear as transformed angels of light.

We need to pray for discernment for all things. Then wait for His answer. The results of speaking against something or someone of God can bring curses down on anyone. The fear of God can keep a believer safe.

1Ch 16:21-22 He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes, [Saying], Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

Here is a story about an unbeliever and his people, who had no fear of God.

Exd 14:24-28 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians, And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians. And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, [and] all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.

Here is a story about a bunch of jealous folks, and how God stopped their murmuring.
Num 17:1-9 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of [their] fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man's name upon his rod. And thou shalt write Aaron's name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod [shall be] for the head of the house of their fathers. And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you. And it shall come to pass, [that] the man's rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you. And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers' houses, [even] twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron [was] among their rods. And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness. And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds. And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.

And one more example of a couple of believers who wanted to know why Moses was so special.

Num 12:1-15 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard [it]. (Now the man Moses [was] very meek, above all the men which [were] upon the face of the earth.) And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out. And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood [in] the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, [and] will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses [is] not so, who [is] faithful in all mine house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed. And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam [became] leprous, [white] as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, [she was] leprous. And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned. Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother's womb. And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee. And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in [again]. And Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days: and the people journeyed not till Miriam was brought in [again].

I would encourage anyone in this forum to do some serious praying before speaking against another member, a Bible teacher, a doctrine, a denomination, or a revival.

I do not have documentation, but I do have knowledge of a news reporter that was warned against telling viewers that they do not need to convert to Christianity. He restrained himself for several years. Then he said it one more time. Almost immediately after that it became known that this person had a terminal disease. He died within a matter of weeks.
