[_ Old Earth _] The Geologic Column

They are saying that there is no place on earth where all twelve of the periods are found. Given that the precambrian is always found if one drills deep enough we merely need to find places with the 11 phanerozoic periods. What we will see below is that such situations do occur. In point of fact Morris and Parker define the geologic column in a silly fashion. There is no place on earth that has sediments from every single day since the origin of the earth. No geologist would require this level of detail from the geological column. But if there are sediments left at a given site once every hundred thousand years or so, then at the scale of the geological column, the entire column would exist. There would still be erosional surfaces contained in that column and that would mean that some days left no sediment at a given location to mark their existence. We will now examine the strata that form the entire geological column which is found in North Dakota...

The creationist argument is that there only if there was never any erosion at a given point for all the billions of years of Earth's history, can the geologic column actually exist. But as you can see, there actually are sites on Earth where erosion has been so sparse as to allow every age to be represented in the column.

Indeed, it is the chief frustration of the fossil record that we do not have empirical evidence for sustained trends in the evolution of most complex morphological adaptations."Stephen J. Gould and Niles Eldredge, 'Species Selection: Its Range and Power,' 1988, p. 19

That's quite a different issue than the geologic column. As Darwin predicted, most speciations happen in small isolated populations, in relatively short times. However there are some examples of such changes for which we were fortunate to have a fairly complete record.. Gould has mentioned ammonites, horses, and forams as examples.

The transition from cynodont therapsids to mammals, is likewise very detailed. The transition from the reptilian to the mammalian jaw joint, for example, is very gradual and transitions exist for all stages. At one point, several different species have both joints.

This is the complete record one that you can count..

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Everything after its kind.. No transitions from cynodont therapsids to mammals..

Everything after its kind..

Just not the way that creationists would like Him to have done it.

No transitions from cynodont therapsids to mammals..

He left us some information, by which we may check that. And it turns out to be true.

I have both the facts and God's word, because I am willing to accept it His way. Anyone can, if they will just set their pride aside, and let Him be God. God did not plant evidence to fool people. This is the world He gave us, along with the intelligence to understand it, if we're willing to learn.

Apparently not. Or you'd recognize that YE creationism is man's revision to God's word.

A problem I had with many of the links is that they either lead into a circle of self reference or didn't reference their claims at all. This was very evident with the link that said scientists found x in y colum. No links and I tried to google some of the claims and either it came up with nothing but links back to blogs with the same infograph or to cites debunking the claims. Nothing on the original findings.

The main problem I've always had with creation apologetic websites is that most of the ones I've come across don't vet their claims very well and seem to post incomplete quotes, hearsay, and/or outdated information presented as evidence against current science and/or evidence of God/Christianity.

I have nothing against trying to find and show evidence for "creation" but most of these sites don't try to do that. They prefer to try and find holes in other theories, but never fill in their own holes.

The world in its attempt to revise Gods word has caused you to say that the blood of sinless lamb of God has monkey blood in it, and you call that science, i call it something else..

Not if they want to be a geologist. The Bible is the Christian Holy Book, not a geology text, its purpose is to explain Christianity not the concepts of geology.

Its similar to how I wouldn't use the Bible to explain how to cook lasagna. It doesn't explain a process or what lasagna even is. The Bible doesn't explain everything, we definitely need more then what the Bible says.

The Bible is a collection of the stories of the Jewish people and rules for them to live by. It is also a collection of histories, lineages, and poetry. The New testament is a collection of Christian philosophy and prophecy, and the tale of Jesus told from 4 different perspectives.

A society needs more than that to function, it needs science and it needs engineering. It needs trades and economics. The Bible doesn't cover any of that.

The Lord does both he knows everything about anything and anything about everything..

He knows our hearts..

Psalm 147:3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

He knows not only the number of stars in the universe he calls them by name..

Psalm 147:4 He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

You said all a Christian will ever need is the Bible. I pointed out that the Bible doesn't contain all information. Then you said lord knows anything and everything.

So that leads me to believe that you hold the Bible to be God.

Is this your stance? If not then what do you actually mean?

The bible is Gods living word its our owners manual, do you own a computer, where you able to know how it worked properly without an owners manual from its maker? In Gods owners manual he gave us a detailed message about how we got here and what we were to do and what not to do, did Adam and Eve follow the instructions? When man starts creating ways to live without Gods guidance throwing in his two cents worth we get the blue screen of death..

*edit: forgot something..

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

The bible is Gods living word
Actually its severeal books compiled together over thousands of years and was edited together by a collective known as the Nicean creed where books were removed or added to unify a fragmented belief system for the the then freshly sanctioned Church.

its our owners manual,
Its more of a compendium of sever different types of text. History, parable, philosophy, poetry, history, laws, etc.

do you own a computer
Yes, I also work on them for a living.
where you able to know how it worked properly without an owners manual from its maker?
Yes because computers are a combination of differnt software, hardware, and purposes. I have learned how to use certain software partly on manuals, but how to do some of the greater aspects of coding, tutorials, and repair I had to learn through trial and error. Mainly because the manuals don't tell you everything.

In Gods owners manual he gave us a detailed message about how we got here and what we were to do and what not to do,
Actually the Bible is very vague on most things. The Bible doesn't explain a lot of things. The Bible isn't nitty gritty on a lot of details and tends to just be a summary of generic concepts and topics. The laws in the Bible are by no means complete or all encompassing as why courts exist and why countless hours of study is delved to understand how society works. Its a limited collection of books with limited information.

did Adam and Eve follow the instructions?
According the original story, there was really no way for them to follow the instructions. The concept of good and evil, right and wrong didn't exist in them until they ate of the fruit. The story has a massive plot hole/paradox right in the middle of it. The fruit and the command are symbols for story telling. Fruit equals curiosity, Adam and Eve equal Men and Women, the serpent represents our drive to curiosity at all Costs, and God is a representation of authority/ consequence. As a fable the story works, but considered to be a real event it starts to create a tons of plot holes and inconsistencies.

When man starts creating ways to live without Gods guidance throwing in his two cents worth we get the blue screen of death..
Or we get innovations on how to streamline software, new software, games, expanded uses for the computer, diversity in interfaces, new operating systems, and new hardware.

No, that's not what I said, and you know that very well. Yes, humans did evolve from primates (not monkeys) and yes, Jesus did become human. But that doesn't remote mean what you tried to make of it, and doing so is highly disrespectful to God.
