When transcribing our Church Youth Camp teaching this year from CD’s, Brother Hawkins made the following comments I had never heard, and I truly believe to be the truth.

1 Thes 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The God of peace is the power of the Holy Ghost. You’ll find that in Hebrews 13:20. It says this, now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ, that great shepherd of the sheep. It was the power of the Holy Ghost that raised up Jesus from the grave after three days (Rom 8:11), and so we find that He is the God of peace. Any time you see God of peace in the scripture, we’re talking about the Holy Spirit. What will He do? He will sanctify you wholly, and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. And this is what the Holy Ghost is wanting to do in our lives in order to accomplish the full sanctification of setting us apart unto the Lord.”

Even Spurgeon teaches that “God the everlasting Father, he is the God of peace” at the following URL. http://www.spurgeon.org/sermons/0049.htm

Another listed as Grace Gems at http://www.gracegems.org/WINSLOW/og08.htm
God not only proposing peace with the subjects of a revolted empire . . . revealing Himself divinely and essentially as "the God of peace." And “God, as the "God of peace.”

Eugene!!

May I call you my brother? May I tell you of the need that I have for peace, for the call that is mine -- that I may begin to find and unravel something that has been a mystery to me for all of my life? And if I may call you "brother" and if the reason is because we share the same Father, our God - then may I also apologize for me being so stubborn and pig-headed and insisting on my way. No, I'm not talking about any particular thing that has ever transpired between ye and me for you have blessed me with every word that has come from your mouth... but instead, I'm talking about that thing in me that prevents our Father from being OUR GOD OF PEACE the way He wants to be.

You see, I was born with a chip on my shoulder. People used to scratch their heads and wonder about me, "Does he argue, just for the sake of argument???"

And I, being prideful as man is, thought this of myself, "Golly, gee! I am so good at debate. I could argue both sides convincingly." Then I'd go about trying to prove it true. Now, some may say, "But Sparrow, we know you to be a patient man... how can you say these things..."

But to that I would reply, "You've heard the promise, "Where you are weak, THERE I am strong!" It is a promise that newborn Christians are given. It is a promise that rings true in so many ways throughout our walk with our Savior. We are transformed and we do get to watch and wonder at the goodness of God as He performs His will, His marvelous will, in us. Astounded, I say truly, I am no saint. Not when it comes to peace. That blessing that Jesus speaks of, "Blessed are the peacemakers..."??? Yeah. I missed that one. What? Was I in the line asking for exceptional argument skills? Maybe.

But then...

He touches me. My weakness is truly an opportunity for His strength to be seen. And now??? Now I hear you come, as a brother in Christ, and to share what Our God, Our Father, has revealed to you. My heart resounds with the confirmation and the feeling of shouting out, "YES!!" Happens in my Spirit.

Or, as Kelly Bundy of 'Married with Children' once said, "Urethra! I have found it!" (pardon me, sometimes I don't resist when I should). But you are absolutely right, sir. He is our God of Peace. We simply do not yet know Him. Those who hear what you have heard, I believe, are given an invitation to partake in something that is special beyond clever words...

Here is it:

My peace I leave with you...

Who said that? Well, maybe the clue that it was said in Red Letters will be enough for some. Was it the King of Glory? WHO IS THE KING OF GLORY?

And upon the sound of His voice all will stop and tremble... Then one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed." (Rev 5:5).

Who is the King of Glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah. (Psalms 24:10)

(Isaiah 6:3) And one cried to another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD …
(Isaiah 54:5) For your Maker is your husband; the LORD of hosts is his name.

Shall those who are called to the Wedding Feast not put down their swords first? They shall. It is HIS peace. And that is the right of it. We are HIS possession. That is our inheritance. Your inheritance. Bought by Jesus. So that we may KNOW Him, as He desires.

And yes you can call me brother. :)
Thank you for recognizing the reality of this revelation, as I had near given up that others would see truth that seemed hid to me for so long. There are many scriptures revealing the deity of God speaking or performing acts, and in writing I have been led to indecision as to firmly saying it is or was the Father, Son, or Holy Spirit. I thank God for His ever increasing bestowal of grace toward us who love Him, and this just seemed to seal more loose ends to me. Thank you again brother.

You are very welcome but here... let me show you a secret... for you know this, have heard this and have seen it. This is NOT new.

There I am. Profoundly grateful for the gift that has been given me. Others have spoken of such things. Where they too have have undergone surgery and have had some kind of spiritual experience. And yes, I was much in prayer. And yes, there were many who were praying for me. I believe that the prayers were answered.

But, and this also is something you've heard before: God is Good! Not only is it His pleasure to answer prayer, He likes to answer abundantly and exceedingly... So then now, here I am. Profoundly grateful. And it puzzles me some. Because it's like I want to offer thanks to God for each and every breath that I take. But, and here's the point... this is not about me. That thing that I speak of? It's not my fault. And I speak this only to set the stage. Truth be told, I'm thankful for being allowed to be thankful ... if you know what I mean... How many times are we told in the Bible that it is good to accept things with thanks and that we are to go before the Lord with thanksgiving in our hearts.

Well... it's almost as if I am being carried in my thankfulness. It's new alright. So there I am, the "gates of heaven" are open and what I find is that the one known as Sparrow is allowed to come before Him in prayer offering thanks. Again, I should not be thought of as "special" because of this, but really? It is special beyond measure! I am so utterly in Love with God and so very thankful that I don't know what to do with myself sometimes. How can this be? Is it because of the goodness and the pleasure of God -- to perform and to give regard to the prayers of the saints? But that's not all.

WHAT is this?

There is something else that is new. It's like sometimes things just JUMP out at me. Like this time. Here I come (to the forum) and there is nothing going on all that special. My son had just visited me (he's a good son, you may know him as Sonsblood) and I think, "Hmmmm... maybe I should stop in and see what's going on with my friends at CF.Net..."

Then I go looking around as is my habit and there's something. Wait. That's very much something. Wait! Did I read that right??? That word, given to my brother is really something. THIS IS NEW! Now, how may I tell you? Could I say that my heart leaped within me? I guess I could. I am prone to take literary license, but no, my heart did not leap. What was it?

It was the Holy Spirit in me that confirmed the revelation given to you in such a profound way that I could do nothing but write as well as I knew how ---> this one resounding thought:

Amen, Eugene. You have said this well.
and as much as I know anything, that voice was indeed the voice of the Holy Spirit. What you heard was from HIM. In other words, I can confirm the truth of what was revealed to you. Signed in love, Your !Sparrow

True peace oh the joy.
Not those who cry peace - peace and there is no peace.
If your brother is overtaken in a fault and refuses council, do you now use fear. Compassion for some, but others require fear. Oh yes the hoped final outcome is true peace when the turn back comes.

Amen brother. I have to disagree with you though. Have you ever done a word study on the word "Saint"? You're a saint. Clearly.

Bravo brother Eugene. Good good post! I agree completely. :yes
