The Gospel Of John

I saw the movie last night and WOW was it awesome!

I have to admit that I wish they had used corrabrotive evidence (I can't spell) from the other gospels, but it was a fine movie...it was about 3 hours long.

There were a few problems, like Jesus just died on the cross without the bad weather or the like, but it was good nonetheless.

I would say that all Christians should watch it.

I saw the Gospel of John when it came to Milwaukee. I thought it was great. Remember, this movie strictly follows the Book of St. John. It does not have all the "stories" of the other gospels because these stories are not in John

At first, I thought the young man who plays Christ was too joyful. But look at what Jesus is saying in John: I am the Bread of Life, I am the Living Water, I am the Son of God, I am the Good Shepherd. His message is a joyful message. Of course He would be joyful. Kudos to the Canadians who produced this movie! Too bad the movie is not heavily attended because as a whole, our generation likes the "shoot-em-up" movies much better.

Blessings,
Christy

Great movie!! saw it the other night with my wife and now she wants to buy it and send it to all of our unsaved family! (that may get pricey as we both come from a long line of pagans...)

I know the author. :D
Yeah, but do you think that this movie evil like you say that the Passion is??

BTW---non-believers don't prefer to sit and read the Bible. They are easier to reach through a movie then they pick up the Bible after the seed has been planted

That is why the gospel is best preached.

1 Corinthians 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

We are not supposed to entice people to Christ. You can read for yourself what pleases God.

1 Corinthians 2:1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.

1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

1 Corinthians 2:3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.

1 Corinthians 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

1 Corinthians 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

I don't know how bad the movie is. I do know that Hollywoods false Christ portrayed in Roman Catholic Mel Gibson's movie added to the word of God, dared to put words in the mouth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and promoted Roman Catholic fables.

My point is that w/ a movie you can reach people who won't be preached to. I mentioned in another post that my sister is now serving the Lord after I "enticed" her (ooooooooooh no!!!!!!!!!) w/ the Left Behind books. My sister WOULD NOT have been preached to! HA If you only knew. But a fictional "non-threatening" bestseller which was bible based sowed the seed and now she's saved! Judge the fruit bibleberean!

I can't preach to co-workers, they have rules against that. BUT, I ca hand them a movie, they have the seed planted and then I can witness to them, they go to a church for some bible preaching, ect.

An error we bible-believing folks often make is thinking that ONLY preaching, only tracts and only an "in your face" approach is all that works or at least is all that pleases God. We need to think outside the box and reach people where they are.

Most of your posts and theology is right on, bibleberean. I also respect you immensely. I wish you'd loosen up on the movies though! :sad

Do yourself a favor, go rent the movie. It's fantastic!

I am happy your sister is serving the Lord. Her salvation is based soley on the gospel and her willingness to receive it. It has nothing to do with the Left Behind Series.

If I take a non believer fishing and talk about Christ and as a result this person comes to a saving knowledge of the gospel that person wasn't saved because of fishing. He or she can only be saved by the gospel.

Many times books like the Left Behind series are a hindrance not a help.

The Roman Catholic Pope gets raptured. If someone becomes interested in Catholicism as a result what kind of "fruit" is that?

I am not going to get the movie the Passion. I don't want a false image of my Saviour implanted in my mind.

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Romans 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

1 Corinthians 9:18 What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

1 Thessalonians 1:5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

2 Timothy 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

We don't have to place the gospel in worldly garb to reach the lost.

It is not a practice found in the bible.

God bless,

bibleberean

You are absolutely 100% wrong on the movie issue, bibleberean. You had half a leg to stand on with the Passion, but you have absolutely no ground to stand on with this movie. The movie IS the Gospel. It presents the Gospel word for word. The Gospel is the same whether you read it on text or whether you watch it acted on on screen. The media doesn't change the fact that the Gospel is being presented. There's nothing superior about the written word, nor is the written word accessible by everyone. This movie is the Gospel of Christ, and it does lead people to salvation, and you have no right to condemn it.

I am going to rent this one! Thanks for letting me about this movie!

Also, I am purchasing the Passion DVD

I happen to agree with bibleberean

Its funny how over centuries of church history is being abandoned in favour of what is felt to be a more “culturally relevant†way of communicating the Gospel. Less and less of us preach the gospel and more and more of us seek to entertain people thus consigning the example of Christ, the apostles and countless generations of what men and women of God to the garbage heap. What so many have died for in the past is now either forgotten or simply taken foe granted.

 You guys need to relax. What is wrong with me giving a movie to a coworker to watch????????????????????????????????????????

You can't stand up on a soap box and preach to everyone. And if I do it at work I get fired! BUT I can send a movie home with them, especially a great movie like The Gospel Of John and A SEED IS SOWN.

You have obviously not seen the movie if you think the purpose is entertainment and not to preach the Bible. The Gospel is a concept. It doesn't matter if we preach it by handing out tracts, by getting people to read the Gospel for themselves, by reading the gospel to them, by preaching the gospel in our own words, by using illustrations, by using movies, even by using internet forums. The gospel message is the same no matter how you preach it, and it is wrong of you to condemn a media that you personally don't like. These movies are a tool to preach God's Gospel, and through many have come to Christ.

Mhess, could you please edit your post and remove some question marks so that this thread doesn't have the right/left scroll problem.

The reason you guys are against using movies to reach people is because you just don't like movies. LEGALISM
you probably never watch any form of TV and I'd bet that Christian cont. music is evil too...Am I right so far?
I think you guys just want to put a yoke on the rest of us over your PERSONAL PREFERENCES

You guys reek of legalism. This is why people don't want to be fundies.

I like movies. I own and watch a Television.

A fundamentalist is someone who believes in the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith.

How would you like to fly on an airplane with a pilot who didn't believe in the fundamentals of flight and navigation?

I like to lift weights, ride bike, tell jokes, and am a practicing homosapien who thinks thespians have a right to get married.

How does that make me legalist? :D

God bless,

bibleberean

NOW WAIT JUST A MINUTE THERE PEOPLE.
I consider myself a fundie. Anyone who has read my posts knows this. My point is when you are so legalistic that you think the movie "The gospel of John" is bad and shouldn't be used to reach out to people, you're doing damage to the rest of US (me included) fundies

Destiny, calm down! We're on the same team! No one is labeling. And I highly respect berean. I've told him that. I just believe that his rigid position against good movies makes people like me, you and him look like we're nuts to your average co-worker or unsaved family member because they paint with a broad brush.

but anyway I'm not looking for a fight with you guys. Didn't mean to be offensive
