The Great Apostasy

Those people are known as blind followers of the blind. And as heartless as this sounds, we're not responsible for them.

Matthew 15
13 But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.
14 Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.

The Lord calls who He calls and the truth is, not everyone who professes belief makes it into the Kingdom. That's a scary thought because I'm one of those who professes belief.

When I look around and see what's happening in the world of Christians, I'm not dismayed. I used to be. I used to think that somebody has to say something to these people. They have to be warned.

I used to feel that way, but I don't anymore. When I look around, what I see is scripture unfolding before me. I see living proof that the Word of God is true. And as grateful as I am for the Lord showing me these things, it does not bring me joy. Countless multitudes are going to have their names wiped from the Book of Life.

I personally don't believe we're seeing the great apostasy. I believe the world is being prepared for that "falling away" that's mentioned in Thessalonians. A month or so ago a highly respected leader in the christian world made a statement regarding entrance into heaven. He said it was not necessary to believe in Jesus in order to enter Heaven. I believe that statement is the key that opened the door for the great falling away that is to come.

I believe what we're seeing today are the false teachers and false prophets that are mentioned throughout much of scripture. Teachers of empty words and authors of tickling messages. Soothers of itching ears.

I believe the road is about to get bumpy.

Just my opinion.

Oh boy Gary, I believe what you just said is prophetic! I believe everything you posted. It is a time IMO for all of us who profess Christ Jesus as our Savior to be very serious about walking in the Spirit. Our fruit tell the truth! A Person in this Forum (Can't mention his name, don't want to troll) and I have swapped a few posts. He says that He's not a Christian. I really understand where he's coming from, and for some reason, I'm getting a strong feeling from the Holy Spirit that I need to listen to him. He is looking at what we call Christianity today and doesn't want anything to do with it and doesn't want to be identified with that name. Can you blame him? I don't! He is seeing the great Apostasy unfolding right in front of him and he's right! He has caused me to WAKE UP. I can see it too. I certainly don't want to be identified with this Christian Social Club called church any more! In fact, it's been over a year since I attended my Baptist Church here in Greenfield. It might be time to either start a house church again or attend one who is of the same persuasion to do it....God help us!!!

There was a time that I rebelled against the title of "Christian". Like some, I didn't want to be associated with a title that conjured up images of lies, hypocrisy and people who were only interested in your money. I was a believer, not a christian. I held that belief for quite some time until one day the Lord tapped me on the shoulder with this.

Acts 11
25 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:

26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

From that day forward, I became a Christian. I no longer worried about what others thought of me. That title actually provided opportunities for me to explain what was happening in the church. If the disciples were regarded as Christians, it's only natural that we follow their example.

Paul said,

1 Corinthians 11
1 Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.

Again, this is just my personal opinion and not meant to put any weight on the shoulders of those who believe differently. We all have our own journey and even though the destination is the same, the roads we take in getting there differ slightly.

I appreciate your post Gary, like you I have always felt the title was important. Now, as I see the Christian Church, not all, slide into compromise with the world, it is a far cry from that early group of believers. Oh my, if the modern church had only stayed as pure as that early Church. So there is certainly nothing wrong with keeping to that title. I guess more should do it and see if their influence can change things. I pray that God would undertake that with you.
