I've been thinking a lot about the Holy trinity lately. And I just realized, that the Holy trinity doesn't just represent his 3 versions, but also his omniscience, omnipotence and omnipresense! For example: God the father represents his Omnipotence, God the Son or Jesus represents his Omniscience, and God the Holy spirit represents his Omnipresense. This is what I think, I'm not saying only Jesus is omniscient; or God the father is just Omnipotent, I'm saying they also represent his abilities.
I too have considered the trinity, 3 person's in one God-head. I have never thought about relating to the 3 O's. However, in doing a study of the soul in relationship to the spirit I found some interesting scripture in the old testament and this one in the new that really made me think.
Matthew 12:18
King James Version (KJV)
<sup class="versenum">
18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom
my soul is well pleased: I will put
my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
So I see that God is talking about Jesus who is God come in the flesh/body. He also says He has a soul
and a spirit. So at least when it comes to God there is a difference between His soul and His spirit.
1. I know that Jesus is God come in the flesh/body
2. I know that the Holy Spirit is God's spirit
3. By a process of elimination I deduce that the Father is God's soul - the mind, nature, etc.
Jesus said He only did/said what His Father told Him to. He also said that if we see Him we have seen the Father. To put on the mind of Christ is to put on the mind of the Father. Of coarse we can only do this to the point of what is revealed in scripture to us by the Holy Spirit.
