Many believers are taking "God is a Spirit" & "the image of the invisible God" out of context to infer that the Father is invisible.
John 4:9 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Jesus is testifying that believers need not go to the mountains nor Jerusalem to worship God the Father for He is Omnipresence. God the Father is not confined to a specific place of worship.
Colossians 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
I submit to you that invisible in that verse above means not presently seen. One can see how the word, invisible, has been applied to Jesus Christ, the King of kings, below in that verse.
1 Timothy 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
In the request for the creation of man, One Person in the Godhead asked the other Person in the Godhead to make man in "their" image.
Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
When the Godhead agreed in consensus to create man, they did so as the One God.
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Jesus testified that although no man has seen God the Father at any time, He did.
John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
John 6:46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.
Jesus testified that one day His disciples will not need Jesus to ask for them that they can go to the Father in seeing Him and ask the Father directly.
John 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. 25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. 26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: 27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
So may God cause the increase in the knowledge of Him so that your love may abound more & more.
