The Issue Is...

I agree, but I also think it isn't exclusively the younger generation, I know people who are older than I am who think the world revolves around them, too.

The sad point of this is my generation is responsible for this just as the generation following WW I is reszopsible for what we did and so on. When any people group places their faith in anything, save God, this will be the direction of Devolution that will result.

You're right, young lady. I even know one Old Scoundral on these forums this is prone to following the same course. Some, unfortunatly, refuse to admit a mistake that they might grow from that point. We humans like to pretend we are of the ostridge family and we get our rear ends kicked because our eyes are in the wrong place and then we, men, get a Pride Attack. And as the Femenist Movement gains steam, the Pride Attacks are affecting more and more women, women that were, once, ladies.

I would place blame on my generation for the 18-30 year olds being spoiled brats. My generation has over scheduled, over stressed, over purchased material items for the kids today. They didn't have to work for what they got, like we, the parents, did. Indulgence didn't matter, but now we have a generation that doesn't know the value of good hard work. As your OP states, they also don't have respect for authority either because they were able to get away short of murder.

They aren't all like this, though, thank God!!
 
Rule in my household when my kids each reached the age of getting their driver's permit:

The grades had to remain high in order to get a part-time job in order to pay their portion of auto insurance. (We provided an easy-to-maintain Audi 5000 for them to drive.)

I was told by my oldest's guidance counselor that requiring a part-time job in order to drive bordered on child abuse, because the teen's only responsibility was to gaining an education.

Well, long story short: each of my kids had grades high enough to earn scholarships to university. They also had learned the valuable lesson of fiscal responsibility.

No, that is revisionist ideology and that is not pronounced I-de-ol-o-gee, in this case the prefered enunciation is id- de- ol- o- gee. Any humanbeing that has read the scriptures knows that disobedience can and will send them to Hell. Rules are not made to be broken except one wishes to spend Eternity in the Lake of Fire with Satan and the boys.

I had a job, paid rent, bought the parts to rebuild the engine in the fifty dollar Nash Rambler mom and dad bought for me and I had better not fail a class. But that is called parenting.

Precisely! That IS called parenting! Your parents loved you enough to see to it that you were capable of standing on your own two feet once you left home.

The entitlement mentality has been promoted for quite a while now. And it has had a negative impact on families. When tax laws make it easier for women with children to receive big refund checks as long as the woman isn't married, something is seriously wrong with tax laws.

But again, part of the design for that entitlement mentality is aimed to destroy the family unit.

This all began with the man that caused the Vietnam War when he managed to get JFK murdered in Dallas. His Great Society was one giant step towards Socialism and the pure stupidity of that one idea, to this day, floors me. Texas' Favorite Democratic Son did not have a pot to spit in until he hooked up with the mob family in NOLA and used Billy Solestice for his ?clean? contact. Lady Bird was born into money and being married to him she should have stomped his toes into a congealed meat pie when he began this stupidity.

Any move away from a Free Society is a fool's move, especially if one has money. All of the money, the money that in theory, that pays the poor man and the, formerly, rich man must come out of the pockets of the wealthy making them dirt poor. The only way any poor man has benefited from the endeavors of the rich is when the rich are allowed and encouraged to invest their money in new products and industries for the purpose of making "One Dollar More." From that point forward we have been creeping into Communism.
 
Maybe one day the world will wake up and understand they are trapped in a man made scam. Scam after scam imprisoned under man.

Jesus Christ is the only escape route.
