Mostly I play Yamahas, not really deliberately but because they seem to have the piano tones I need, usually connected to one of the BNRs (own-built Linux-based synth referenced in the doc linked above). A number of years ago, pre-BNR, Kurzweil Mark 5's used to follow me around (weddings, parties, events, etc.), and almost whenever that happened, it turned out that they needed someone to play a bit

I have liked the Yamaha tones too , their organ sounds are good too . Be nice to own a Hammond B-3 and a Leslie cabinet or two .
Never have been a fan of the Casio keyboards because of the piano tones they use , that is unless they have improved them recently .

I haven't made a tour of a large showroom in quite a few years; the nearest one is about 85 miles away. I know there are some interesting brands I've never touched. The last new experience I had was at a visit to a wonderful instrument store in Kearny, Nebraska (maybe four hours away), they had only a couple keyboards, but one was a Nord. I have never been able to afford Nords, but I have met two, and am happy to have done so!

I once played a nice Kimball grand made when Kimball owned Bosendorfer, and a good bit of technology transfer had occurred. That was one of my more favorite moments.

But my very favorite musically has to be one night at a local church, which had both a concert grand Steinway and a friend's Roland Juno-D sitting on top, with a truly gifted friend running sound, and more friends, we were very happy together. The Juno-D had a tone with "bass" in its name (sorry I don't remember more), from volume zero to 4ish it was more or less an ordinary bass-on-keys, but from there on up it had a flame in it which I have never heard before or since, and could not imagine duplicating on the BNR. My friend Randy, on sound, and I, got that thing to flamethrow all night, with the grand providing thunder, with great control available at all intensity ranges. I still think about buying a used Juno-D for that one sound.

I used to play piano. Took lessons for 4+ years. At this point, probably will not go back. But I did enjoy learning.
