Strengthening families through biblical principles.
Focus on the Family addresses the use of biblical principles in parenting and marriage to strengthen the family.

Psa 14:3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Isa 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Love is even simpler. Abide in me and I will abide in you.
Nobody would object to the truth in that. I think the commandments are primarily a revelation of God's will thereby revealing more of His nature and glory. But anything of God cannot be intended for a wrong purpose and of course, they are a guide to walk in His ways.elijah23 said:The commandments were meant for our benefit. They are a guide.
That's true too. And very simple when you put it that way. But please complete your statement - This is "all we have to do"....for what? For our justification? All we have to do is follow the Lord's commandments.
Pardon my confusion here. I would normally have agreed with your above two statements as being true based on 1John 5:3 and 1Cor 6:9 if I had seen them separately. But together, they seem to imply that a person is made righteous by obeying the commandments which are not grievous - is that what you meant? The law is simple. All righteous people can enter heaven.

Thank you for clarifying that.elijah23 said:It isn’t that we are made righteous.
As long as "not sinning" is dependent entirely on the grace of God, I'd agree to all that you've said so far.It is that our sin leads to bad consequences, but if we resist the temptation to sin, then we don’t experience those bad consequences.

Yes they are and it is Love that fulfills them. The commandments were meant for our benefit. They are a guide.
So if I'm understanding you correctly your saying follow the "LAW" and you will be made righteous and go to haven, but to do so one must follow the law, and I assume you are speaking of the law as in the 10 commandments, and as further described in the OT? Is that correct?

Please excuse my interruption. Elijah believes that because we follow the commandments we don't have to fear the wrath of God making this life heaven to him. Obviously there was a time in his past that he was not happy, as a sinner and in fear of God. He is a beautiful babe and we should take care that he does not feel like we want to attack him. Just a heads up.
The Lord shows us what sin is. It is up to us to stop committing those sins.

To be sinless then?

Yes, we must become sinless. We have all sinned, but we must stop:
You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matt 5 :48 RSV
