A couple of years ago my wife, Anna, bought a new pair of prescription sunglasses, which were pretty expensive. Soon after, she couldn't find them and feared that she had left them at a restaurant we had been to. Neither one of us were sure so we called the restaurant and had them look, to no avail. We also searched the car with no luck. I told Anna to not worry, they'll turn up. But she is the type that has to find it right now.
So we searched the house - exhaustively. We turned that house over like burglars. There were dishes out of the cabinets, underwear out of the drawers (drawers out of the drawers, heehee), you name it. We searched high, we searched low. We searched left and right. Top and bottom. In and out. But we could not find those glasses.
After several hours of searching, Anna was depressed over the loss. Then, I had a thought! We had not prayed about it! Sure, it wasn't the biggest deal, but I always feel like the Lord wants us to take everything to him, big and small. So, I mentioned to her that we hadn't prayed over it, and maybe we should. Now, my wife is a believer but is slightly behind me in her walk. So, as we give up looking and walk toward the kitchen table to sit down, she says sarcastically, "Dear Lord, help me find my glasses."
At just that moment, I pull out the chair to sit down, and right there, in their little case, are the glasses. I hold them up and tell Anna, "I think you owe the Lord an apology for being sarcastic." :D
