The Mystery Will Be Finished

Anyone want to take a stab as to why Jesus mentions His new name?

Isaiah 62:2 And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.

Revelation 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Revelation 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

I'm not certain about "the name," but when the overcomers, the man child, the very elect....the saints are given "a white stone" upon which is the "new name written," it means....they are in their glorified body, as He is. That is the "white stone."

in the [white] stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Matt 16:15-17
15 He [Jesus] saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona:
for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven
. KJV

2 Cor 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. KJV

We KNOW, we understand the MYSTERY of God only by REVELATION of the Father by His Spirit.
This revelation is in the words of Jesus as HE told Simon Barjona/Peter.

Before Peter met his end in this life, I believe Peter received, by faith, this 'white stone' with a 'new name', and Peter KNEW (in a spiritual sense, not a fleshly sense) that he belonged to Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ belonged to him!

Well now, overlooking Matthew24:34's slightly backhanded compliment :lol , this has been one of the most polite threads, in the End Times forum, that I've read in a while.

That's because love in Christ dwells in this thread.

Notice how Jesus gave Simon his new name ''Peter'' for on this rock (white stone) as Peter was cleansed by the blood of the lamb..

As for the new name thing we see throughout, that Abram became Abraham, etc...

Joseph became AfnahowdoyouprnounceitPaneah.

Likewise when Jesus mentions He will write His new name on our foreheads (understanding) is because He will do a New work,as He does not return to bare sin but reveal salvation.

Words fail to describe these Wonderful things God has in store for His family!

Adam named his wife Woman, but this was changed to Eve, ... 'mother of all living... Gen 3:20

Abraham's wife's name Sarai was changed to Sarah... Gen 17:15

This thread is a breath of fresh air. As far as the new name, there is this:

Isaiah 62:3 "Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.
4 Thou shalt no more be called Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be called Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.
5 For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee."

I must say however that I have my own theory on this, which is along the same lines as what Ret said. The reason is because Hephzibah was not new, being the name of Manasseh's mother (2 Kings 21:1). And "Beulah" was not new either, having already been used by Isaiah (54:1, beulah - "married"). I personally think the new name is "Christian" (Christianos, meaning "belonging to Christ") :D.

Wonderful...no more called FORSAKEN, no more is the land called DESOLATE
but...thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah

.... :amen ...... :amen ..... That's a BREATH of FRESH AIR!

Interesting .... the MYSTERY of God, is connected to CHANGING something as simple as a NAME!
On the other hand, it's not as simple, as it first seems!
