The mystery was not revealed to the prophets and cannot be found in the Old Testament. It was a secret "hid in God" (Ephesians 3:9) until it was revealed unto the apostle Paul, as he himself states "by revelation he made known unto me the mystery" (Ephesians 3:3). Paul goes on to explain the mystery in verse 6 saying "That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:". It has to be noted that the mystery cannot refer to the blessing of Gentiles in connection with Israel because this is perfectly clear from the fact that that was never a secret. That was known Genesis 12:3 when Jehovah states “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.†And this well-known fact is constantly referred to in the Old Testament for example we read in Genesis 22:18 “And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.â€Â

So what is the secret? Paul explains clearly saying that the mystery is that we Gentiles who were at one time “aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world†(Eph 2:12) have now through the blood of Jesus Christ have been reconciled to God with the Jew in “one body by the cross†(Eph 2:16). Jesus has “broken down the middle wall of partition between us†(Eph 2:14), between Jew and Gentile, and through the baptism by the Holy Ghost we are placed into the “one new man†(Eph 2:15) and thereby reconciled us to God. We read in 1 Corinthians 12: 13 that “ by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.â€Â

We read in 1 Colossians 1:26, 27 “Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:â€Â. When we read “Christ in you†I do not believe that this is referring simply to the indwelling of the Holy Ghost but rather Christ dwelling in you the Gentiles.

That God has blessed both Gentile and Jew through the cross via the creation of “one new man†in which both are equal, where earthly distinction is lot. That is the glorious mystery “hid in God†but revealed through Paul. Thanks be to a graceful God. AMEN

The mystery of Godliness and the mystery of iniquity come to mind.

This is one of the mysteries. There are more.

Mankind's ultimate destiny is to become literal begotten children of God.

When God gave His covenant to Abraham, He said that Abraham would be the father of a multitude of nations or "hamon goyim". Goyim means Gentiles. Studying the covenant in Genesis 17:1-6 I found that a "hamon goyim"(many nations), in verse four is a promise to make Abraham a father of "multitudes of Gentiles", specifically, a people who would cause a tumultuous commotion, or great noise (about Abraham's God), throughout the world. Their heirs would be exceedingly fruitful.
Another part of the mystery is that the Gentiles were part of the covenant promise from the begining, and that God accomplished this "multitude" mainly through the Gentile nations when the 10 tribes of the lost sheep of the house of Israel were absorbed into the Gentile nations, leaving the house of Judah to return and build the temple and cling to their heritage and preserve God's law. However, God never lost track of Israel (Ephraim) them for a minute, as they were headed by Ephraim, the "firstborn" of God who was the receiver of the covenant promise passed on to him by Jacob - the multitudes of nations (Gentiles) promise, and indeed, we are numerous today that are in the Church of the "firstborn".

Amos 9:9 "For surely I will command, And will sift the house of Israel among all nations, As grain is sifted in a sieve; Yet not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground.

Hosea 5:3 I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me: for now, O Ephraim, thou committest whoredom, and Israel is defiled.

Matthew 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Jeremiah 31:9 They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.

Hebrews 12:23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Jesus Christ is the revealed mystery.

The mystery is not only Jesus Christ, the mystery is who is and who was Jesus Christ.
