the new covenant vs the old covenant

the Lord has become my salvation? the name Jesus isn't in the tanach but when it its mentions Yah saves or YHWH is my salvation that is closest to the Name.

IEHOVAH is become my JESUS (Yeshua, salvation): He has become my salvation, as the Word was God and became flesh, and dwelt among us.

The next verse says "ye shall drink water from the wells of Yeshua," as Yeshua said "Whoever drinks the water that I give him he shall have a well of water springing up into eternal life". `

Technically atonement, propitiation, and reconciliation are different aspects of the atoning work of Christ. To keep it very simple Christ was the Lamb of God who "took away" the sin of the world, whereas the animals of the OT simply "covered" sin. The Old Covenant pointed to the Lamb which was slain from "before the foundation of the world" (1 Pet 1:19,20). Which means that in God's Divine foreknowledge and foreordination, Christ was crucified BEFORE Adam was created. Had this not been true neither Abel nor Abraham nor Moses could have been justified by grace through faith. Something to think about.
Yes, I believe there are many, many who were faithful, by grace through faith, before the cross.

That's also when the veil in the Temple was supernaturally torn in two, and the way into the Holiest Place (in Heaven) was made effective. The entire Levitical system was abolished at that point, and the epistle to the Hebrews makes all of this very clear.
I don't believe it was entirely made obsolete until 70 AD.
Heb 8:12 because I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawlessnesses I will remember no more;' --
Heb 8:13 in the saying `new,' He hath made the first old, and what doth become obsolete and is old is nigh disappearing.

Hi Deborah,
The actual word used in the original text in Romans 3:25 is propitiation It means that Christ , The sacrificial Lamb's blood covers the JUDGEMENT SEAT (The Arch of the Covenant) and has made it an eternal seat of mercy for those who have faith in the Savior. The closest word that would cover what Christ did upon the Cross would be "SALVATION". No one word fully encompasses this great work. Theses words: Propitiation, Reconciliation, Redemption,Forgiveness and Justification are not covered in the word Atonement.. Romans 3:21-25. The more people know Christ and His work....which is still in progress, the more they will have a closer walk with the LORD daily. The visible church seem to only call on Christ when they are in trouble. But to be born again is to walk with His Spirit daily. He fellowships with me every day...really!

Historically you are correct. Spiritually you are not correct. God made allowance for human weakness and resistance to the Gospel by Israel (in Palestine and throughout the Roman Empire). Ultimately judgment came upon ubelieving Israel in 70 A.D. But in the heavenly places -- in the Heavenly Sanctuary -- the earthly Temple became immediately obsolete the day Christ said "It is finished". Hence the torn veil, which was so critical to maintaining the integrity and sanctity of the earthly Temple. That should have been a wake up call to the priests and Levites -- indeed to all of Israel.

This verse says that in about 60 AD, the old covenant was fading away but was Not yet obsolete. There was about a 40 yr. period where this scripture clearly shows that both covenants were in effect. Personally, I believe that God gave the children of Israel a grace period, a period of transition while the apostles continued to give them the Gospel. This period was rather like when God brought them out of Egypt. They spend 40 yrs in the wilderness before they entered the promised land. A time of transition. A time of grace.
I think we can find that God did this more than once for them in the OT. Warnings were given ahead of destruction, so that they could turn away from disobedience to obedience. God is full of mercy and grace.

13In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
NAS
When He said, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to disappear.
