The origin of Earth & man, according to mormonism.

Some beliefs that I ponder at in terms of likeness or difference are these:

Trinity
Jesus
Lucifer
Creation
Salvation
Hell
Heaven

What do Mormons believe in regards of these things?

Different websites have different statistics, but most either place Mormonism as the 4th or 5th largest growing "Christian" religion in the U.S. Kinda scary, if you think about it.

That popular huh?

Not long ago the LDS missionaries in the field amounted to about 30,000. Missionaries do a 2 year "tour of duty". For Mormon families in good-standing it's "highly recommended" by the church that their sons go on these missions.

Trinity: No they believe that the Father, Son and Holy Ghost are three separate Gods. Proof that Mormonism is a Pagan religion.

Jesus: One of three Gods that rule this world. First born of Elohim (God the father) savior of this world, payed for our sins not by the cross but by praying in the garden before the crucifiction.

Lucifer: Jesus' brother second born of the father. Tried to become saviour, but was voted down.

Creation: The cartoon pretty much covers it.

Salvation: Only by obeying the laws and leaders of the LDS church.

Hell: No hell, there are 3 levels of heaven everyone gets to one of them.

Heaven: Three levels, Celestial, for good temple worthy holy Mormons where they live with the father, son and holy ghost. Telestial, for not so good Mormons and those that only accept the LDS church after death, the father is not there but the son and ghost will visit from time to time. Terestial, Only the holy ghost is there no father not son, for everyone that does not fit into the other 2 heavens. The only other afterlife is called outer darkness, it is for the devil his followers and those that refuse to join the LDS church both in life and in death.

These are just brief overviews, if you want more detail just let me know on which and I'll tell you.

Could you elaborate a bit more in terms of salvation and Heaven? I have not ever heard the idea of Heaven having multiple levels. The idea in itself is astounding to me, perhaps a bit farfetched too. Nonetheless, it has peaked my curiousity.

I think I can answer both of your questions by explaining the Mormon afterlife.

I have told you already about the pre-existence, now after a person dies according to LDS teachings, if they were a good and faith full mormon they go to paradise (not heaven, yet). In paradise they continue to do "church work" by ministering to those in spirit prison, this is were everyone else goes when they die. This is one of the HUGE differences between Mormonism and Christianity, Mormons believe that you can be saved after death be accepting the LDS faith in spirit prison, this is how they attempt to answer the age old question about those that never had a chance to here about Jesus. So here's how it works, say you are in spirit prison and an LDS spirt comes to visit you much like the LDS missionaries do here, and you accept the LDS church you then wait for someone on earth to be baptised for you they call this baptism for the dead and is done in the temples this is also why they do so much genealogy.

After someone is baptised for you you then wait for the 1000 year reign of Jesus on Earth, after that comes judgement for all. Unlike our view where we are judged by GOD,the LDS say everyone is judged by God the father, Jesus, and Joseph Smith if they all vote you through you will then be assigned to one of the three heavens. The top level is for only the best of the best mormons, married in the temple, had many children, obeyed the word of wisdom, and always doing as the current "prophet" says, even if it contradicts an older prophet. The second level is for those that accept the LDS church after death, those that were LDS in life, but not good enough. The third is for almost everyone else. Outer Darkness is for people that just refuse to accept the LDS church both in life and death, Satan's demons, Satan, and anyone who has left the LDS church.

". . . We know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do."

-- II Nephi 25:23.

That is from the BoM, and is more evidence that the LDS church is not Christian at all. We as Christians belief of course that we are saved by grace alone, by faith in Christ alone. Mormons truly believe that the death of Christ was not enough to lead us back to God, but that we must work our way to him and that grace is but a "last resort" salvation. There is no mark for good enough either Mormons have to just keep doing good works and hope they have done enough by the time they die, they spend roughly 60-80 hours a week doing work for the LDS church, not by choice but by obligation. You can be kicked out for not paying at least 10% of your income to the church, I know we Christians are encouraged to give 10%, but we also know that GOD will still love us if we don't or if we can't once in a while.

Let me make sure I am understanding you correctly....

They believe in a form of limbo or spirit afterlife prior to Heaven? Would this make those of us passed on in accordance to their faith....what some of us describe as ghosts? *Shudders* That alone....just has the enemy written all over it.

Good deeds are the ticket into Heaven for Mormons?

You got it. Yes they truly do believe that they must "earn" their way into God favor. It it's truly a religion of the deceiver, think about the first of Satan's lies in the garden what did he tell Eve? That she would be like GOD, the LDS believe that they will be like GOD truly they are all being received by the enemy. We should all be praying for and trying to help them.

Agreed. Prayer is much needed.

This makes me more and more curious though. Which I guess can be dangerous. So hopefully I will not find myself digging too deep here but....

With some of the beliefs you have roughly mentioned....do Mormons try to interact with the dead?

Indeed they do. They also practice forms of divination, and fortune telling. It's a very pagan religion, but most don't see it. Here's the thing, if you were to try to bring this stuff up in a conversation with LDS missionaries they would change the subject right away, they do what they call "give them the milk but not the meat." They will tell you all the little things but not the deep doctrine, that is how they trick people into thinking it's a Christian faith.

This is the best website for the truth about mormonism, it's run by a woman I have great love and respect for. Her name is Sandra Tanner and she is the great-granddaughter of Brigham Young the 2nd "prophet" of the LDS church, she is always truthful and a good freind.http://www.utlm.org

That is very disturbing. It amazes me greatly the things that are kept hidden until one is within the actual church sometimes. I have had mormons come to my door before. When I am honest with them though, they usually do not make any form of return.

Never imagined that their religion was so pagan. Not that I was completely oblivious to some of their doctrines. Just to those that I was.....yikes. Talk about turning a blind eye.

Misfit,

I appologize for my continuous swamping you in questions. It seems they never end....

Do they have views on age and maturity in terms of scriptural understanding? Basically...when do children become adults? Are they encouraged to marry young? What is expected of a Mormon male and a Mormon female?

What makes the ideal Mormon?

May God Bless You

Danielle

The Ideal Mormon is one who blindly obeys and never asks question...No really it is.

Mormons believe that the age of accountability is 8, that is why they are required to get baptised at age 8.

Yes they are encouraged to marry young at 21 for men and 18 or so for women. They are also encouraged to start having kids as soon as possible. Here in Utah you are pretty much an "old maid" if not married by age 25, they even have special LDS churches set up for singles so they can find and marry as soon as possible.

Is there any belief or doctrine that they hold that IS biblical?

This will be my shortest answer to you yet...no. Sad huh?

Lostlamb, this video may give you a good glimpse into LDS culture and why they refuse to hear the truth, especially women.

Frightening...in a way makes me think of the mindset of Babylon. There is none beside us. It is sad....an easy thing for any person to do, to place something over God in their lives.

Mormon women or families are better if they are wealthy and in high position of the church? Sounds almost political.

It is, but you have to remember what I told you about the pre-existence. They believe that those born into rich Mormon families ARE better people than the rest of us.

Just to make sure I am still getting things right.....

Wealthy Mormons are better than everyone else?
Mormon women are basically ones with the sole purpose of bearing children?
Polygamy though not something openly practiced or taught is still done?
Jesus and Satan and brothers in terms of their doctrine?

And Godhood is possible to be achieved or something close to?
