I havn't seen that thread but I reckon it sucks if we are not allowed to discuss the trinity. I also dont belive it.

The second thread from the top of the list in the Apologetics and Theology Forum is called “Sticky: Trinity threads.†In this thread, the administrator, Vic C. says, “Let it be known that the Staff will no longer approve any new Trinity Topics for the time being. Anyone who starts a new one will have it deleted. We will refer you to one of the existing threads. When this announcement is deleted, then you will know it's alright to resume with new topics.â€

Maybe Vic knows this is a topic that can lead to very heated debates and he would like a little rest and family time during the holidays rather than spending hours on the computer moderating. If that is the case, I think it is reasonable to let the topic rest until after the Christmas/New Year`s season.

never simple questions, eh?

Very True!
Man was even created a little lower that angels. And 1/3 of these fell. This was the first heavenly rebellion. (and the last Nah. 1:9) Some of these ones surely had SINCERE questions & just barely escaped for their life? And the Godhead wanted the questions settled for all the rest of eternity as 'i' see it.

SO: While some of the other post surely are true, this was not the only reason that mankind was created. In other words, also one might see the total Godhead putting Theirself on trial with the use of angels & mankind. (All mankind)

My experience with this topic is that people never agree and that the argument goes on without end. I feel rather strongly about this issue, but I have no desire to enter into a never-ending battle.

I think never ending battles are useless too. If I know my mind is solid on a subject and someone else`s mind is equally made up, I don`t even try to debate because it is a waste of time and energy. But if someone has sincere questions and wants to discuss it and it becomes a debate as the person is sorting out their own thoughts and feelings or if I want to sort out my thoughts, I don`t mind these kinds of debates. I think they are very healthy. In order to come to a place of good understanding sometimes we have to ask questions and challenge the answers given, but that is only if we are searching for an answer. If our minds are made up, generally the other side`s answers mean very little.

I got an answer as to why the Trinity can not be discussed. Apparently this topic kept coming up like a "landslide". The board apparently was being bombarded with this topic that went on and on so administration felt it was time for a little break from it.

In the “Purpose of the Bible†thread, Vic C said something that got me to wondering this:

Is the purpose of creation that the Lord wanted to have friends?

What do you think?

Here's my $.02 about why we were created and what our "free will" is.

To come to grips with the reality of our situation we gotta 1st input logic and set aside dogmas. The first thing we realize about our freewill is that it is a function of our ability, resources, influence, and might. We are of course incapable of acting beyond those parameters which have been put in place at the highest perceivable level by natural law. Now, being confronted with the reality of natural law, we must assume that those laws had to be implemented by something powerful and intelligent that is NOT subject to the natural parameters. Then after coming this far we are left with these questions:

WHY would an intelligent and powerful being design the natural world and have us thrive in it?

Did He just make us for the sake of creating something?

Is our reality a small part of something much bigger?

Here's where belief comes in (in determining what above listed reason one subscribes to). I personally am persuaded that God created us, our universe, and the laws that govern it for reason's beyond what is contained within our sphere (the 3rd question). In other words, our existence plays a part in something bigger. So in a real since I believe we are the tools, yes I said tools used by God to accomplish something big. He had/has a PURPOSE for our world's creation that will be fully revealed in the course or at the end of what we call time.

Based on this assumption (which is all it is, but I think a pretty darn good one), I believe that after the creation act, God's only intervention in this world would occur for but 2 reasons. The first being to ensure that His ultimate will is accomplished and secondly, because He loves those He created, and His priority is based on that order (His will followed by His love for us).
Now, when His will is ultimately accomplished and He no longer has use for this creation; why would He continue to allow it to exist? My guess is that He would/will not, and I say this because if He is indeed a perfect "GOD" who hates the practice of evil, His toleration for the goings on of our world will one day cease. I believe that this is where His love for us is truly apparent in that though our "usefulness expires, He grants us the opportunity to not only continue to exist, but also exist in a "new" habitation not infected with evil. In order to receive this gift, we must do so on God's terms, because remember, we are limited creatures. Those of us who submit to those terms will be blessed with the gift(s) that GOD offers while those who do not will not be spared the destruction that is reserved for our reality anyway.

To me, that is both a logical and simple explaination of the GOD - man - freewill dynamic and how it affects the parties involved.
