The Remaining

Now I am not sure if most here don't watch much horror type movies. This one is very good and in my opinion worth a look.

Friends gather at a wedding, but the celebration is shattered by terrifying apocalyptic events forcing them to examine life, love and faith as they must choose between redemption and survival.

Enjoy!

32/100 metascore. Not to many folks liked the movie all that well. I liked the start of the movie, but then it went down hill for me from there.

I thought they portrayed everything pretty well. My favorite was the pastor that had no faith. Not for everyone I agree. Then again people tend to compare to Hollywood which never works out. I tend to like B flicks though.

Well, the start scene for me was pretty cool. Far better than the left behind series. The way the smoke hung in the air, and everything was dim was like a vision I had. My vision was concerning the 6th and 7th seal though, so that really got my interest.

For me Joe, the pastor scene in the church was really drawn out. They spent time on the Pastor character, building it up to the point your wanting him to lead the people somewhere.

What happens? He gets sucked down the hall by a monster. All that wasted build up for nothing. There was nothing to root for, or grasp as all the characters had a short sob story, and died.

The movie tried to be to much, and failed at all fronts. The hospital scene was our horror part of the movie with the jump scares, just had to get that in and forget about what the rest of the World was facing. Then the movie gave us a short story on each character and killed them off. So the movie failed at building up characters we could care about.

Then it ends. Death was the answer, but it was how you died. A little to simplistic for me, and I felt like they ran out of money to continue letting us know what everyone else was going through.

I agree with you though, If a movie is based on the bible in some form, I don't care for all those scripture experts telling us how unscriptural it was. They are having fights over the new Jurassic Park movie because some scientist say it's not scientific accurate enough and is misleading people. Really? Unreal.

I do not advocate watching Horror movies. petty any form of fear in ourselves is not the best idea. Faith does move mountains, but not if you have monsters hiding under your bed in the back of your mind.

One movie I did like. Final destination. The director did a perfect job on how the unsaved seek help in all the wrong places for supernatural things.

The Remaining could have been awesome, but for me it never decided what direction it wanted to take, and cut to short directions It had taken time to build. Then it ended, and left me wanting more. It's one thing to have twist and turns, and do unexpected things, but just having that Pastor sucked down the hall, then that part is over was not expected and not in a good way for me.

Be blessed.

I can agree with all that. I guess the real fault lacks in time frame and indeed it was a little scatter brained.

Still good enough for my recommendation.

Better than any of the left behind movies which tried to take themselves far to serious, and low budget effects.
