The Resurrection of the Dead

I had a question concerning the resurrection. If an individual dies as an infant will they be resurrected as an infant and remain so for eternity? Or do they automatically mature to a certain age?

The bible doesn't give us much detail on what we will look ressurected. But here are some ideas of mine: The soul is more important than the body. These physical bodies are for us temporary means for our earthly life, but they will lose their significance because we will receive new bodies, a form of existence similar to the angels', as it says in the gospel. And I believe since the new bodies will be perfect they won't age. There won't be death and there won't be a need of aging either - the bodies will be perfect just the way they are. I tend to imagine that we will all be like "adults", but also: In this new existence age becomes meaningless because eternity is a state where time is different - time actually doesn't exist in the sense as we perceive it, but it's rather like "eternal presence".

MY COMMENTS: I agree with Luci, little detail is given of this question.

However, I have my ideas.

First of all, I believe all in the body of Christ are mature enough to believe in Him as their personal Saviour. That is, young people, perhaps as young as six, for I have heard testimonies that certain individuals accepted Christ quite young. Therefore there would be no babies etc in heaven.

No doubt, there have been young Christians who have died, yet I personally believe that in our new spiritual bodies, we will be fully grown, and with all our limbs, etc, for there have been many believers, I'm sure, who have lost limbs before their death. Of course, I believe that God will give each of us our own individual looks and stature.

As for babies and other older innocent children, I see that God has not forgotten them, for they will be resurrected to be judged at the great white throne (Rev. 20:11-15).
Since they are innocent, they, along with all the others judged worthy of life, whose names are written in the book of life, will be granted life in the New Earth.
I assume they will have whatever body they had when they died on earth; so, I guess adults will be appointed to care for them until they grow to adults on the New Earth.

I believe the scriptures teach that the whole person dies, and that the whole person will be resurrected.

I believe they will be glorified as an adult.

I'll have to go with that idea. I've always pictured the resurrection kinda' like Adam and Eve being created, as adults.

true to a degree but the bible says that we inherent the earth. if we are a spirit only then why is the new jerusalem talked about in the descent to the earth , then there''s the resurrection of the saints after the millinial reign. that implies a boldily resurrection.

I do not know about babies, I kind of figure babies will grow into a more adult figure. As for us (old enough to have made the decision to accept Christ) we will look like ourselves, except perfect, like Jesus. Paul says "For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality" We will lose all marks of sin, like to being to heavy or to skinny, injuries, and other things (effects of tobacco come to mind).

The Bible is for those who have a chance to hear the gospel. God will take good care of them, that's good enough. :yes

Agreed! So long as I am brought back to be with God I couldn't care less about my form, I'd even settle for duck...
