Matthew 20:1 For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. (3) And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace. (5) Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. (6) And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, 'Why stand ye here all the day idle?'

I am most interested here in the "sixth and ninth hour," but the above passage leads us to that time. Souls will be invited into the kingdom of heaven through the eleventh hour giving them time to labour! Our salvation is not based on our works, "But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?" and "by works was faith made perfect?" [James 2:20,22] Jesus, our example in all things, said....

  • John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

When the night, darkness - Satan "cometh" it is midnight and "no man can work"...

  • Matthew 25:5-7 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, 'Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.'

[list:2kshjai9]Matthew 24:26-27 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, 'Behold, He is in the desert;' go not forth: behold, He is in the secret chambers;' believe it not. For as the lightning (shining) cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
[/list:u:2kshjai9]

The cry made at midnight heralds the arrival of the fake christ...do not "go ye out to meet him!" When Christ arrives it will be in His elect from the east to the west.

But what of the "sixth and ninth hours," for they appear to have special significance?

When considering the sixth and ninth hour we should take into account what the numbers themselves mean....

  • Nine - The number nine is a most remarkable number in many respects. It is held in great reverence by all who study the occult sciences; and in mathematical science it possesses properties and powers which are found in no other number.

It is the last of the digits, and thus marks the end; and is significant of the conclusion of a matter. It is akin to the number six, six being the sum of its factors ( 3x3=9, and 3+3 = 6) and is thus significant of the end of man, and the summation of all man's works. Nine is, therefore, the Number of Finality or Judgment. It is a factor of 666, which is 9 times 74.

Six - Six has to do with man and is the number of imperfection; the human number; the number of man as destitute of God, without God, without Christ. - Numbers in Scripture, E.W. Bullinger

In addition....There are 66 Books in the Bible and 6,666 verses in the Koran. Perhaps the most famous use of six is found in....

  • Revelation 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Taking their meaning into account....what does the sixth and ninth hour reveal to us in the following verses?

  • John 4:6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

John 19:14-15 And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King! But they cried out, "Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him," Pilate saith unto them, "Shall I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar."

Matthew 27:35 And they crucified Him, and parted His garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, "They aprted My garments among them, and upon My vesture did they cast lots." (45-46) Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Acts 10:9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:

Acts 3:1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.

Acts 10:3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

Acts 10:30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

That brings us full circle and back to the beginning parable....

What do they have in common, if anything and...what is being taught about the sixth and ninth hour?

Terrible...Just...Terrible. :verysad :verysad :verysad

By mixing parts of two parables (out of context :naughty ) with more words from some of Christ's other teachings (again out of context :naughty ), your 'whispering spirit' has managed to make a case that Christians should run from the Kingdom of Heaven. :nono :nono :nono

Just so you know, the Jewish day starts at 6am, therefore the 6th hour is 12noon while the 9th hour is 3pm. Same for the Romans and Greeks of Biblical times. :study

If you have to turn to 'the occult sciences' to divine your hidden teachings then you've truly lost your way. :twocents

I wasn't aware that I named any time...just the sixth and ninth hour. I realize what they represent in our time schedule but appreciate your pointing it out. :yes

I'm not turning to the occult but pointed out that the number nine is used by them...as written by Bullinger, not by Whirlwind. :lol

As far as placing anything in context I'm afraid you are reading something into this that isn't there. I didn't place anything in context. I listed Scripture in which the sixth and ninth hour was used.

My closing comment, which you may have missed is.....

What do they have in common, if anything and...what is being taught about the sixth and ninth hour?

Sinth, repeat after me:

"Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." :(

Also, you are correct; the first hour of the day (the opposite of night, people!) began aprox. at our 6 AM. A rudimentary reading of the crucifixion tells us as much. Unless these people here believe Jesus was crucified in the night hours. :help

Dear Lord,

Please show Whirlwind and Nightmare the true meaning of your Word, and please Father help them not to take verses out of context.

:amen

What has been taken out of context?

What am I to be forgiven for?

Where did I give any meaning of what the sixth and ninth hour is according to our clock?

Please....be specific.

THE TRUE MEANING OF THE WORD???? Well what is the word ?????

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

SO Jesus Christ is the word,,,,,So your praying for me a WW to understand the meaning of Jesus Christ????

Well Christ is the only begotten Son of the the Father,,,the One who died,,,but defeated death so we may live,,,through Him we may have eternal life upon repentance because of his victory on the cross.....So I assure you,,, me and WW know the meaning of Christ/word....

So why would you be praying for something that me and WW already have???,,,,regardless of these topics we are saved and these discussions have no bearing on our slavation friend,,,,so if you want to pray for us pray for spiritual gifts/wisdom/understanding on our behalf,,,,DO NOT THROW APPERANCE PRAYERS OUT THERE......Your really wasting yours/Gods time asking for something we already have....

But if your real prayer is "Help Nightmare and WW understand the word the way I want them to" that will never happen because<<<

I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it:

Well, the FIRST thing NM should do is go find out what 'word' and 'Word' are in scripture....ie learn to discern between the WRITTEN 'word' of God and the 'Word' of God who came in the flesh.
:)

Yes, I meant the written word, and the part of the written word that you have taken out of context.

O BROTHER,,, WHAT DO YOU THINK THE WRITTEN WORD IS ABOUT.......

Very obvious that you are discussing the scriptures.
This 'word' versus 'Word' argument some use is nothing but deflection and distraction, in my opinion.

When all else fails, distract with irrelevance...seems to be the policy of some :nono

Well, the moment you dont seem to understand the difference between the 'word of God' and the 'Word of God' Id say a problem is pretty apparent from the start :)
