The Terrifying R-Word (Repent)

[1] In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea,
[2] "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 3:1-2 RSV

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 4:17 RSV

[14] Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God,
[15] and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel." Mark 1:14-15 RSV

I have found the message of repentance is not a popular one.

However, it is more fun to prod people than it is to live a lie.

It is more fun to stand up for what you believe is right than to look for something else to do.

I know what you mean, Elijah ...

Repenting is something that each of us must do, with an honest and open heart. Otherwise, it wouldn't be repenting and our Lord knows it.

AirDancer:

Yes, it was part of the Lord Jesus' message; it was thoroughly what John the Baptist, commended in the highest terms by the Lord Jesus, taught. It's very much part of Paul's body of doctrine in Romans, especially chapter 2.

Blessings.

Sin is sin and has no various sizes, shapes or color. We must confess that of all we have done in our past in order to be made Spiritually renewed again by the word of God as Gods kingdom dwells within us who have repented and turned back to the grace of God as we receive His Holy Spirit who is our comforter and teacher. We might not remember all our sins of the past so we repent of those things we know and are unknown to us.

John 3:3-6
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Romans 10:9, 10
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
