The Truth About Mel Gibson's The Passion Of The Christ

I can't believe someone as smart - and dedicated to Jesus - as I know you are would be so duped by the doomsayers into not seeing the good in Gibson's 'Passion of the Christ'. I can't believe that av1611.org comes across as more truthful than a realistic depiction of Jesus on the cross.

Even though I disagreed, I understood your reactions against Mother Theresa... but this... I can't even understand.

In my Lutheran church there is a saying, 'The Cross is my theology'. I think the Passion does preach the gospel, and I think it does tell us what salvation means, and I would consider any other 'gospel' than the one the film presents as not even being a 'gospel'.

Sorry, we disagree on this issue (apparently) more than we disagree on Christian gays and Biblical inspiration. I'm not even going to try reasoning/agreeing with you anymore.

Sorry.

I guess not hearing from you will just have to be "my cross to bear".

I'll have to agree to disagree with you, bibleberean. I don't see anything wrong with an actor portraying Jesus in film if it's done in a reverent way. (for an irreverent example-Jesus Christ superstar)
Are you as opposed to the movie The Gospel of John? What about the Jesus movie? Are they evil too?

I also know that fundies wouldn't have said negative word #1 if the exact same movie was made only by a Baptist. To say this movie is evil is a real stretch. I mean a reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal stretch.

I think you are nitpicking. You say the gospel wasn't presented. Well, hence the the name The Passion. It's only about His suffering on our behalf.

My wife received several articles much like yours from our homeschool group before the movie came out. I didn't buy it then and i don't buy it now. It's a good movie

On a side note, this is why no one wants to be a fundie. Fundies go too far thinking it's their job to go around correcting everyone and everything.
Just a tad of moderation may be in order...

I would reject a movie that was made by a Baptist just as soon as anyone else. Being a Baptist by the way will not save anyone.

I know plenty of apostate Bapists.

Remember anyone who pretends to be Jesus is a hypocrite by definition.

5273. hupokrites
Search for G5273 in KJVSL
upokrithV hupokrites hoop-ok-ree-tace'

from 5271; an actor under an assumed character (stage-player), i.e. (figuratively) a dissembler ("hypocrite":--hypocrite.

See Greek 5271

Did Jesus have good things to say about people that pretended to be something they are not?

Can a sinfilled man portray a sinless Christ?

Jesus is God. We are not to make an image of God. Why do you think the bible does not give a description of Jesus?

We are not supposed to know Jesus "after the flesh".

2 Corinthians 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

The apostles knew Christ after the flesh. I have never known Him that way.

The apostle John was intimate with Christ on earth.

Note: His reaction in Heaven.

Revelation 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

I am only interested in what the bible has to say about Christ. Not what an uninspired man made film has to say.

Especially a film which adds false doctrines and fables to the word of God.

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

2 Timothy 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

I am an eye witness to the fact that God's word is true. Fables about Jesus are being welcomed as truth and Satan is glad of it.

yup you see mel is not stupid he makes $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ out of mels Jesus another false gospil for the sake of the love of money.

and the sake of unity one day you will regreat ever supporting such and o i will add well I told you so.

I heard the movie was doing so well, that they may make a book out of it. ;)
