The music obviously was used for the lone ranger, and it actually is quite old, the story of william tell goes back to i believe the 1500's. Everyone knows that second part but not the first part.

For those of us who are old, LOL :oops or watch the old animated cartoons, the "daybreak" portion (the cowherder's call)should be very familiar to us. :yes

It's FANTASTIC to watch them play, they look like they're really enjoying it! I recognize all of it...good stuff Turn :-)

Thanks Turn~
What a treat...

I just loved the BIG GRINs when the “cavalry charge†began from the orchestra. :D It was like they had it hidden up their sleeve... :lol The umbrellas bobbing along with the conductor and the raucous whistles at its close reveal how inspiring this music is even in the rain.

I found the first part of the overture; also not so well known, and listed it’s Youtube URL.

The William Tell overture is written in four parts, each seguéing into the next:
*Prelude - a slow passage with low-pitch instruments such as cello and bass
*Storm - dynamic section played by full orchestra. (used in Disney’s “Fantasiaâ€Â)
*Ranz des Vaches (call to the dairy cows) ~ featuring the English horn (this segment is often used in animated cartoons to signify daybreak) (ie. the Bugs Bunny reference)
*Finale ~ ultra-dynamic "cavalry charge" gallop heralded by trumpets and played by full orchestra (the Lone Ranger theme music)

mu ~ sic... a blessing from God. :yes bonnie

Just a peaceful easy feeling.. :yes

Back in the days when entertainment meant the theater, plays were so much different than
the fare that's put on the telly, film strips were next, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton & etc..

Overture
Main article: William Tell Overture

Today, the opera is remembered mostly for its famous overture.[3] Its high-energy finale is particularly familiar through its use in the American radio and television shows of The Lone Ranger. Several portions of the overture were used prominently in the films A Clockwork Orange and The Eagle Shooting Heroes. The overture falls into four parts, each segueing into the next:

* Prelude - a slow passage starting with a passage for five cellos
* Storm - a dynamic section played by full orchestra
* Ranz des Vaches (call to the dairy cows) - featuring the Cor anglais (English horn)
* Finale - ultra-dynamic "cavalry charge" galop heralded by horns and trumpets and played by full orchestra.
