Bible Study The Word of God.

Thanks C and Nathan.

Nathan, no you did not sound like you wanted to debate at all. When I brought up the 10 commandments, I realized what I had done as yes, the law is written on our hearts and the commandments are satisfied by "love the Lord your God AND love your neighbor as yourself", so these are the two commandments given to us, and if we follow them, we're not going to break the commandments and Jesus is our Sabbath now, so the 10 commandments were really given to the Israelites.

However, the only reason I brought this up was because of God's spoken Word, He spoke the Word into Mary's Womb AND He spoke the 10 commandments, the power of His Word.

OK Nate, it is your Matt. 10 time!;) Interesting how nine of the Heb. 13:20's ETERNAL COVENANT was just botched up & what one Commandment was tossed out, the 7Th [DAY SABBATH] in Eternal resting? Wow!:screwloose (see Dan. 7:25!) Even the mandservants & animals are resting in an eternal welfare program huh?

And James 2:8-12 is in these ones heart? + 1 John 2:4?? Perhaps 9 of them??? So James 2:8-12's Inspired Words of.. just the breaking of one finds us OPEN SINNERS, are what?? One of rest? :study And OUR STANDARD OF JUDGEMENT to see what IS IN OUR HEART, means what??

And How about Isaiah 66:22-23's NEW HEAVENS and NEW EARTH?? If you can find this 'junk' in these NEW(?) PLACES, show me where????????

And Rock! I thought that you knew better?? Has your personal emaile box gotten filled up with the Gen. 49:17 stuff? THINK!

--Elijah

PS:

Isaiah 66

[22] For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.

[23] And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

No one is telling me anything, I do not need flesh to tell my what and WHO my Sabbath is. There is no sin in this truth.
This is what I do not want to argue about. The Word tells me not to judge another for keeping a day holy, so I will do what the Word says.
God bless -

Well, I do not believ this is the time or place to do any more than speak to the topic on hand. And seeing that the topic is the "Word of God", it is fitting that we talk about it. The word explicitly states that He is unchanginging. What the bottom line is, is that God said He would write the law on our hearts; not re-write it on our hearts.

The word stands unchanged. It has been magnified by Christ, not revised. The physical written portion of the law has been fulfilled. The eternal law of the Godhead, is indeed found in two distinct directions of love exhibited. To God and to man. This does not take away previously spoken words, only magnifies them so that we better understand there purpose. God has never "haphazardly" written down anything, and we know what He does endures forever.

The ark was a foreshadow of who Christ would be. But He is still the Ark! The 10 words were a foreshadow of the perfect relationship between us and God, and us and man. But they are still the same 10 words! This is the whole of the matter. Gods word never changes! Not now, not ever.

Here is a very simple question, please consider it. Where in the Bible do we find that "Jesus the Christ has become the Sabbath"? Sometimes the source of our confussion resides in our tradition. And when we take a step back, we see that the answer is right there in plain black and white, without having to "interpret" passages one way or the other. Written down in the word of God.

Good thoughts, but who are the 'we'? (we see) 1 John 4:6! And Hey, did you tell me to behave?;) (just kidding!)

But in all seriousness, here is a post from a guy on another site where he & I had been exchanging [posts] for a number of months. An notice his 'testimony'. (I might add that he has felt the need to 'home church' as well.:thumbsup

He says:
I think that the ten are the least of these, as there are many more explaintory commandments that were added to the ten. So in direct answer I think that Sabbath keeping is in there.

There is a worthly discussion as to keeping the Sabbath for Christians, specially Gentile Christians.

Some Chistians teach that the Lord's Day, or day of the Lord's resurrection is the Christian sabbath, and try to show that the early church kept Sunday or the first day of the week in this way. But in doing a little bit of study in the Greek I found that they kept the last or seventh day sabbath, with some also gathering at day break on the first day for a resurrection celebration, with prayers and hymn singing.

I find that I was holding to seeing Christ as my sabbath rest, and therefor not in need of keeping a day. Following after Paul's words about keeping sabbaths and festivals. Yet, I think now that Paul was addressing not the actual keeping of the weekly Sabbath, but the sabbaths that were part of the festivals given to Israel, that were ways of remembrance of the grace of God to them as a nation.

Through discussion in this forum I am now seeing that the weekly sabbath is older than the Mosaic law, which gives it a deeper foundation and greater authority. And that the Mosaic law just incorporated it into its structure, confirming the basis of it in God's ways.

So if one teaches others to not keep the Sabbath, are they in danger of having lead another astray? I would have to say yes to that now.

(Elijah will be beside himself reading this from me, as we had a long debate on this matter last fall when I came back online.)

I find the ten commandments are the heart and soul of what is pleasing to God. It is the way of righteousness that God delivered to man, that if we walk by them we shall live the kind of life he created us to live. I also see that by the indwelling Holy Spirit we can live according to them, we can walk in righteousness.

The matter is not that the Lord changed BUT the covenant did. The Sabbath was only given to the Israelites, never to the Body of Christ. The Body of Christ rests everday in their Sabbath, which is Christ.

Galatians 4:9-11 but now that ye have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how turn ye back again to the weak and beggarly rudiments, whereunto ye desire to be in bondage over again? Ye observe days, and months, and seasons, and years. I am afraid of you, lest by any means I have bestowed labor upon you in vain.

Hebrews 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant he hath made the first old. But that which is becoming old and waxeth aged is nigh unto vanishing away.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Hi Rock! You are not finding the 4th Sabbath Day Commandment of the ten inside of your heart or mine that Moses penned in a book & put [IN THE SIDE OF THE ARK]. Deut. 31:9 & verses 24-26. You have the two laws criss/crossed up!:yes:study

And the Eternal Covenant (Heb. 13:20) was kept from creation on! (and before!) Abe was NO Jew when God called him, and God spoke to His early ones in SPEECH. In Gen. 26 you will see God appearing to Isaac long past Abram's call & in verse 5 God tells us all WHY HE CALLED ABE IN THE FIRST PLACE! Read verse 5 Rock, & see what Abe did long long before any Jew was on the scene! He even was a tithe payer. And [[[THAT IS THE WORD OF GOD]]]:thumbsup (Gen. 26:5)

We could all take a lesson from Romans 14 and be in peace, too.:yes

Amen.

This is really not a Sabbath thread at all . We are just going to talk about the Word of God .

2Ti 2:24 And the Lord's servant must not strive, but be gentle towards all, apt to teach, forbearing,
2Ti 2:25 in meekness correcting them that oppose themselves; if peradventure God may give them repentance unto the knowledge of the truth,
2Ti 2:26 and they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him unto his will.

Yes. Gods Word, Gods time, Gods way.

It is interesting. We in this day and age have the word of God with us always. Not only in our heart, but in written form. I carry it literally every where I go. The only time it is not on my body is when I am sleeping.

Men of old did not have this 'luxury'. They had to be listening when God would speak through His prophets. We should consider this love of God for what it is. There is a similitude of this that we find was given to them in days of old. They indeed had Gods word with them, even though it may not have been as readily available to them in the same ways as it is us.

11 "For this commandment that I command you today is not too hard for you, neither is it far off.
12 It is not in heaven, that you should say, 'Who will ascend to heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?'
13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, 'Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?'
14 But the word is very near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it.

Amen.

This above remark does not shock me in the least! Dan. 7:25:screwloose The thread is said to be the... THE WORD OF GOD and here comes this above remark.

In Isa. 8:20 we see the FIRST TESTING of God's Word Himself telling us that His Law is the number [ONE] Test, by which to see if one is 'lightless' or not.

And the only thing that [God DID HIMSELF SPAKE & WROTE in the whole of His 66 Books are NOT HIS WORD???]

That my friend is a red flagg! of Warning!

Exod.20
[1] AndGod spake all these words, saying,
[2] I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
[3] Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
[4] Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
[5] Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
[6] And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
[7] Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. (hello!)

[8] Remember (remember from where?) the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
[9] Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
[10]
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
[11] For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and
hallowed it.

And as found, this is the FIRST GREAT COMMANDMENT of the two tables of His Word!! Matt. 22:35-40

We can talk about the Word, without talking about a Sabbath day, we do it all the time on this forum.
