The pope is coming to Philly in a couple weeks and this city has went absolutely bonkers. I Lewis have never seen anything like it. When I stood about 6 feet from Mother Theresa the last time she was in the USA it was nothing like this, now that was a experience she looked me right in my eyes and it brought tears to my eyes. But the pope coming here I am not interested at all. Half of the city transportation and many other things will be shut down.

I would have loved to have looked upon Mother Theresa. What a blessed memory to have, Lewis.

The thing about half the city shutting down over seeing the Pope is -- why? Does half the city have an actual relationship with God? I'll never understand why the Pope is so celebrated in the world when Jesus isn't even celebrated in the world.

I've been more excited over seeing Jesus Christ in holy people. I don't think I'd be overly excited if the Pope was in my neck of the woods, either. I'm not trying to be ugly about it, I respect him as much as any other human being, but I don't understand the celebratory nature of this whole thing.
 
It used to be horrible when Al Gore was in office. Things around here were getting shut down regularly. I remember when they rounded up all the homeless or kicked them off their begging posts so Al Gore could have sign-holders on each one of them.

I definitely have felt your pain.
I'm not now and I rejoice in that.

Man I never forgot that when she got on the tour bus I was standing there in Chester PA, with about 6 friends and she put her little hand on the window as if to touch us and I was overcome with emotion, you could see the humbleness and the humility and the love all in her face, and she looked each one of us in our eyes, I am not a fan of Catholics, but I deeply loved her.

I've learned a whole lot from the Catholic and Orthodox Christian faiths. I can't say I'm not a fan of them, there's too many stories of their Saints and rich historical writings of their theologians that have had a deep effect on me, but, I know where you're coming from. I'm too much of a Spirit-filled type to find God in liturgies and rubrics. I know He is there, and meets with people there, but as for me it's like putting me in an Opera show. Yes I like drama and I like music, and yes I consider this drama and music, but that don't mean I care for it. Same league, different team. That's how I see it. But anyways...

I would have really loved that experience. People like her, generals of faith, become so Christ-like in their lives that you can feel and see God in them. I've caught little glimpses in people here and there. I think I'd see it a little more if I were a more holy person, myself.
 
Yes Blake I saw the God in her, I mean man you could just see it, I was like 6 feet from her no more than 9. And I was overcome with emotion because of the God that I saw in her face she had like a glow to her, and as the bus pulled out of the parking lot we ran along beside it and she never took her eyes off of us. I was affected by that the rest of the day. I was like June 1995 and she was 84. It was the last time that she was here. You know sitting here typing this I can still see that sweet woman.

Ticketed and Non-Ticketed Areas on the Parkway to See the Pope
A large secured area of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway offering the closest views to Pope Francis during the Festival of Families on Saturday, Sept. 26, and his celebration of Mass on Sunday, Sept. 27, are reserved for ticketed guests, mostly clergy and faithful from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia's 219 parishes. Visitors without tickets will need to enter a separate secure area on the Parkway at least a half mile from the stage and altar on Eakins Oval.

To allow more people a chance for a closer view of the pope, the archdiocese last week said that Francis would take part in two parades for which tickets would not be required. The archdiocese will also make 10,000 tickets available free to the public for the pope's Saturday and Sunday Parkway appearances, and an additional 5,000 tickets for Francis' speech at Independence Hall on Saturday afternoon.
