They Vandalized our Cathedral

The truth will come out upon His return and the perpetrators, those in collusion and those with no empathy for victims will be shamed. Since truth is a double-edged sword, those bearing false witness will be held accountable. May the Lord return and may truth be revealed wherever it leads.

People like casting stones because it's always someone else fault.

They Vandalized our Cathedral

I only just learnt about this and my blood is boiling. Our state premier needs to come out and condemn this action.

He decided to make a statement saying that he won't comment on the high courts decision to acquit Cardinal George Pell but that he believes the "victim". What absolute rubbish, there was no victim. How about the 405 days that the Cardinal was falsely imprisoned, he says nothing about that...

Our premier, Daniel Andrews, needs to come out, like ScMo has, and firstly tell everyone that the decision of the high court must be respected and accepted. He needs to show empathy for the Cardinal and everyone who spends time jail over a false accusation. And finally he needs to strongly condemn this action...

But I don't think he will. It is so corrupt here and our state government is so anti-Christian. Our cops were even advertising for anyone who had a sexual assault complaint against Pell to come forward. Then did everything in their power to discredit this man. They fabricated stories, fueled the public hate with false statements and even influenced the courts.

It had to come down to the highest court in the country to overturn the decision of a jury that was drunk on public hate of the church.
It is an unprecedented decision move for our high court to make such an overruling, it's never been done before.

There were seven experts on the high court panel, all of which agreed that Pells conviction was incorrect
All of them agreed to overturn the decision. Now there needs to be an investigation as to how and why this was allowed to happen.
How our justice system was able to be so influenced by left wing hysteria and propaganda
condolences - hate is an awful thing - the real issue lies with the haters

There are a few old churches on the squares in a few of the old Soviet bloc countries as well...breathtaking.
When in Slovakia (Banska Bestricksa...or however you spell it) the city's square was breathtaking in architecture and they had two old churches there.
Austria also has some of the finest architecture going on as well.
But also if you can do cave diving...Slovakia has old opal mines that are one of the finest to go cave diving in. All those gem remnants on the shafts...they just glow when the lights hit them.

It's interesting you say that because I had a calendar with all these gorgeous church interiors and exteriors. And I was most taken back by the churches in eastern Europe. The architecture is a little different to western churches somehow. And their interiors are exquisitely detailed unlike anything in the west i think.

If there was a victim and they were denied justice, then I imagine their pain to be many many times yours. This type of crime much more often than not go without justice for the victim. These victims of childhood sexual assault are God's much more than any building. Christ warned about sins against children. There is no Christ-centered warning about buildings. Portraying perpetrators as victims and victims as perpetrators is ludicrous, but is done as a matter of practice to keep clergy looking squeeky clean. The only people who really know if this sin is one that was actually committed would most likely be the adult pedo and the child victim. This is why these cases often go with no justice for the victim. If this crime was committed then the wrath of God awaits any clergy responsible right along with their colluders. Blaming the victims is the tried and true tactic that works like a charm every time. This will end upon the Return.

Sending an innocent man to jail is no justice to anyone, especially the real victims

I know the details of the case inside out

What part of the prosecutions case do u feel was enough to prove the Cardinal was guilty of the allegation beyond reasonable doubt?

Someone who gets falsely accused and goes to prison for 20 years that false accuser should be in prison for 20 years.

Thats what i think as well.

It can take as little as 1 second of rage to kill someone with a gun

But to make a false accusation of such magnitude takes months and months and years of careful planning and lying, deceiving, seeing lawyers and judges and hearings, it's all very exhausting just to be involved in such a case. To plan it all takes the cunning that only the evil one can produce

We will most likely never know the validity of the accusations until the return of our Lord in this particular case. There are many many victims of clergy abuse in the Episcopal Church who go w/o justice. My heart is with the victims since I am one of them.

My heart goes out to all victims. My heart goes out also just as much to the wrongly convicted. To be honest, ive been in jail so my heart is really soft for them...
I view a false accusation (which takes years of planning) as being worse than the crime itself (which can take 10 seconds)

405 days for Pell mostly in solitary confinement... Like, man, i literally lost my mind on the second and third nights being alone in those hard, cold concrete cells.

U mite feel that Pell deserves it because of what happened to you. But why should he pay for something he didn't do, it was another priest who ur angry with. Not him

First the media spread a whole heap or unfounded rumors and tried linking him to the scandal that happened here. He was never charged and maintained his innocence

Then this case came up. It's basically the testimony of one person without any evidence, witnesses or anything... So the question becomes this;
how do u want the justice system to operate?
Do u want the Cardinal to pay for the actions of other priests?
Or should the trial just focus on the charges?
Is the testimony of one person enough to convict and imprison a man?
Do u acknowledge the possibility of false accusations?
Or do u "believe all complainants"?

At the end of the day this was an unprecedented decision by the highest court in Australia. All of the seven appointed judges voted for his acquittal. Furthermore they condemned the actions of the OPP (office of public prosecution) for even filing such charges and the courts for breaching basic standards.

Now there is going to be a Royal Commission (federal investigation) into how all this was even allowed to happen. Add that to the Royal Commission already in progress for the Victoria police and we have a very suspect police system to say the least. We have some of the most corrupt cops in the western world here i believe.
It used to be in NSW now its here

So in the end, without being able to address any faults in the justice process I would say your criticism of the cardinal is unfair and unfounded

Now it's obvious that Pell was innocent of the charges brought against him.

But let me say that here in America there were a few priests that convicted themselves with their own testimony.
And before they were finally arrested the Cardinals and Bishops conspired to move these guys around to keep them from getting arrested. (To keep a bad light off the church) These bad guys were allowed to act with impunity for decades.
The testimony of these guys from their own mouths as to what they did when confronted was absolutely horrifying and disgusting.

And it's happened before in Protestant churches...but often (like the Baptists) we have no organization that protects them. (Which is why I was fascinated with this to begin with) The criminals are hung out to dry immediately.
I don't understand why the leadership protected these guys. I don't understand why they weren't surrendered to the authorities the moment it was obvious that there was a problem.
This protectionism is what the real problem is.

That's wrong, the church authority should have never covered up such crimes.

In the case of George Pell he did the complete opposite of that.
He created a "response" which reached out to victims and condemned the perpetrators within the church...

The state police is at it again. Their already looking to charge him for a claim that was supposed to have happened in the 1970s...

This isn't just an attack on the Cardinal. It's not an attack on pedophilia.
It's all a part of the attack on Christianity

A lot of people make me sick!! At least they had it on surveillance camera though so they have a better chance of catching the people who did this.

That is local and both churches were painted

I'm not offended if anyone blasphemes God. God is big enough to handle himself and does not need my protection. I have been called just as harsh things.

Jesus even said to whoever was to put down the sword when trying to be protective, God can handle his own battles.

I couldn't refuse to photo that. you can see the graffiti that wasn't fully removed on that sign. since that congregation is 100 years old. the edifice is about as old as me. I had to take a photo. I have some of its history. I posted that story before
