Members of Westboro Baptist Church have become famous for picketing funerals of American soldiers with signs that say God hates fags. How do true Christians feel about these people?

I think these "Christians" are doing the work of Satan. First of all the word Christian means little Christ which implies that Christians are mimicking Jesus Christ. Look at the life of Jesus and his actions! When Jesus was asked about the adulterous woman in John 8:5 he does not condemn her! When Lazarus dies does Jesus condemn him for his sins at his funeral? NO! He uses the tragedy of death as an opportunity to make hundreds of people believe in Him! It makes me so angry that these people claim to be Christians. It drives me crazy :shocked!!!They claim to be humble servants of God, but there is no humility in judging the lost! They obviously do not know the joy of Christ! The bible says in Matthew 7:21-23 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ It seems to me that these people believe they are prophesying, casting out demons, and performing miracles, but The Word reveals them to be what they truly are - evildoers.

Well.....they are clearly not very intelligent. Surely they would be holding up signs that say 'murderers' or something if they wanted to try and make a point. DUH!

I agree, these people are discrediting Christians and clearly doing the work of satan.

Maybe thats why the ADL are defending them so enthusiastically?

Just the other day I heard on the news the WBC was planning on holding one of their protests about 15 miles from my house, but I've checked and I haven't heard any follow up.

They're hateful and do great harm to the Body of Christ. I really wish some of the more prominent thought leaders of Christianity would come out with strong statements condemning their smearing of the Word and our faith. I've seen them on TV and on youtube, and they are absolutely deranged with hate. They are so brainwashed into believing firmly what they believe, no one is going to convince them they are not doing the Lord's work except the Lord. And they are not open to the Holy Spirit, from what I've seen. :bigfrown

The thing is, it might be best to not object and make more of a scene by protesting. It would just draw more attention to their circus. It seems to me the best thing is for Christians, both high and low profile, to distance themselves and make absolutely clear that they don't condone this group.

The media has stopped giving them allot of attention as well. Most people have figured out their entire scam.

The have been reduced to picketing Furs and Comic conventions now. But that is hilarious because it back fired both times.

It hilarious because a ton of furs are also fur trolls so they go right back with and stand next to the picket with signs like " we shall yiff in hell" and "God hates us"

At the comic con, trekkies, Star wars geeks, Fireflyers, etc. joined them with signs reading " God Hates the Borg" and "The Dark side"
Etc.

Its hilarious how far they have fallen.

Nothing really, A bunch of guys at the convention just wanted to make a fun activity and show that the WBC couldn't ruin their good time.

I don't normally write everthing I think - I just covered their basic motivation and not the collateral damage that they are doing. I don't think anyone here has any doubts about their destructive aganda.
