Misunderstood verse – “Time no longer”
In Revelation 10:6,7 we are told that when the 7th angel begins to sound that there will “be time no longer.”
Re 10:6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
It has been frequently taught from this that God is going to do away with the concept of time; and from then on time will cease to exist. This is, however, not right. What is meant by “time no longer” is that the people of earth have run out of time (no longer do they have more time.) How do we know this? After the 7th trumpet blows we still see the reckoning of time, such as:
- The Lord Jesus’ one thousand year reign (Rev.20:4)
- Satan is bound for a thousand years (Rev.20:2)
- The tree of life in New Jerusalem bearing it’s fruit every month (Rev.22:2)
In the first verse in the Bible God created three things in perfect order: time, space, and matter.
Gen. 1:1 ¶ In the beginning [time] God created the heaven [space] and the earth [matter]
The earth can’t exist without heaven (where would you put it?) Heaven can’t exist without time (when would you put it?) As long as heaven and earth remain, time cannot cease to exist.
