To the Streets!

For anybody who cares to answer..

If someone gets saved and has a real encounter with God while you are street wittnessing, are you prepared to take that person under your wing and disciple them? It would seem that this would be a very crucial part of it.
You can't just say, 'praise God, now be on your way' because thats like sending a lamb to the slaughter.
Just wondering how that works??

Yes, that's why it's so important to talk with the person on the street and start building a relationship with them.

Witnessing on the street

Is absolutely amazing what passes for evangelism today. If a person does not understand confrontational witnessing they will have very very little success in helping the lost into the kingdom. A shock statement, or defining question, are something of an attention-getting nature must be stated to the person you're witnessing to. The purpose of this statement or questioned as to let the conviction of the Holy Spirit fall on the person you're witnessing to. Without the conviction of the Holy Spirit you will be totally unsuccessful. With the conviction of the Holy Spirit virtually any effort will be taken by the Holy Spirit, worked with by the Holy Spirit and accomplish the goal of the Holy Spirit which is of course salvation!!!!

So why does the Holy Spirit need 'confrontational witnessing'? How many times has "confrontation" won you over?

Jesus' confrontation was through service as a servant. His 'confrontation' was through radical changes to orthodoxy of the day.

You're absolutely right. The Great commission is not just preaching, but also to "Make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you" (Mt. 28:19-20).

I'm currently involved in two street evangelism ministries. One, unfortunately, does not seek to do follow up with people, but it is otherwise a great ministry. The other, however, does seek to follow up. After every outreach session, we have a Bible study in a nearby cafe, not only for our own edification and fellowship but also for anyone we might have spoken to during the outreach.

I think the word "confrontation" is easily misconstrued. I'd prefer to call it "contact evangelism." I can't speak for the person who used the term confrontational, but I would venture to think they meant a kind of initiative evangelism that seeks to go out to where the lost are and present the gospel to them, rather than wait for the lost to come to us.

Negative, rude, obnoxious confrontation will only turn people away. However, a respectful, loving presentation of the gospel message will win over those whom God is drawing to Christ.

Jesus' confrontation was through service as a servant. His 'confrontation' was through radical changes to orthodoxy of the day.

Well, Jesus did say some pretty direct things to the people in general. See, for example, John 6:26 to the end of the chapter.

All of you,

Keep up the good work, God's work! God Bless.

Did anyone hear the broadcast story of an old guy who used to hand out tracts, for decades, in Sydney, having been saved thru receiving & reading a tract himself?

The preacher who first heard his story would then tell it at every conference of missionaries, evangelists or pastors where he was invited to preach

It turned out that a phenomenal number of folk who went on to be pastors/missionaries/evangelists, when asked how they came to saving faith in Christ, said, "I was walking down ....Street, Sydney, & this guy came up to me & said, "Excuse me sir, can I just ask you a question?

If you were to die tonight & God asked you, 'Why should I let you into Heaven?', how would you answer?"

For locals, I only heard recently that a regular team meet to pray each Thursday, 11am, at Gladstones Christian Bookshop, Slater St, off Bold St, Liverpool, then go evangelising

Coming out of Central Station, you take the left exit into Bold St, turn uphill & Slater St is the 2nd right

http://www.multimap.com/maps/#t=l&map=5 ... POOL,%20L1

I think they use a variety of ways, inc taking turns preaching while the others offer tracts

I promised the young African student from my housegroup that I'll go on Thurs & investigate

Click my www to see the various ways of creative evangelism God has led me into, these past 42 years

God bless!

A friend and went for a walk around the mall tonight to invite people to Church and talk with them a little about the Gospel. We figured 2 out of 10 blew us off but 8 out of 10 were willing to hear us out. Those are odds I can live with.

I handed a group of teens a tract from Ray Comfort's site, the one you tell them to try and tare it up...anyways, a young lady about 80# and 15 years old ripped it with no problem. We had a good laugh and it broke the ice really well, we invited them out to Church, and they seemed interested.

Anyone else stop people to invite them to Church?
That's so cool, Maybe you should talk to Robert Mazer about that! :o

See Ezekiel 2-3

Ezekiel's Call

1 He said to me, "Son of man, stand up on your feet and I will speak to you."
2 As he spoke, the Spirit came into me and raised me to my feet, and I heard him speaking to me.

3 He said: "Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me; they and their fathers have been in revolt against me to this very day.

4 The people to whom I am sending you are obstinate and stubborn. Say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says.'

5 And whether they listen or fail to listenâ€â€for they are a rebellious houseâ€â€they will know that a prophet has been among them.

6 And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious house.

7 You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious.

8 But you, son of man, listen to what I say to you. Do not rebel like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you."

9 Then I looked, and I saw a hand stretched out to me. In it was a scroll, 10 which he unrolled before me. On both sides of it were written words of lament and mourning and woe.

Ezekiel 3

1 And he said to me, "Son of man, eat what is before you, eat this scroll; then go and speak to the house of Israel."

2 So I opened my mouth, and he gave me the scroll to eat.

3 Then he said to me, "Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it." So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth.

4 He then said to me: "Son of man, go now to the house of Israel and speak my words to them.

5 You are not being sent to a people of obscure speech and difficult language, but to the house of Israel-
6 not to many peoples of obscure speech and difficult language, whose words you cannot understand. Surely if I had sent you to them, they would have listened to you.

7 But the house of Israel is not willing to listen to you because they are not willing to listen to me, for the whole house of Israel is hardened and obstinate.

8 But I will make you as unyielding and hardened as they are.

9 I will make your forehead like the hardest stone, harder than flint. Do not be afraid of them or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious house."

10 And he said to me, "Son of man, listen carefully and take to heart all the words I speak to you.

11 Go now to your countrymen in exile and speak to them. Say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says,' whether they listen or fail to listen."

12 Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me a loud rumbling soundâ€â€May the glory of the LORD be praised in his dwelling place!-

13 the sound of the wings of the living creatures brushing against each other and the sound of the wheels beside them, a loud rumbling sound.

14 The Spirit then lifted me up and took me away, and I went in bitterness and in the anger of my spirit, with the strong hand of the LORD upon me.

15 I came to the exiles who lived at Tel Abib near the Kebar River. And there, where they were living, I sat among them for seven days-overwhelmed.

Warning to Israel

16 At the end of seven days the word of the LORD came to me:

17 "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.

18 When I say to a wicked man, 'You will surely die,' and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his evil ways in order to save his life, that wicked man will die for [a] his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood.

19 But if you do warn the wicked man and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his evil ways, he will die for his sin; but you will have saved yourself.

20 "Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block before him, he will die. Since you did not warn him, he will die for his sin. The righteous things he did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for his blood.

21 But if you do warn the righteous man not to sin and he does not sin, he will surely live because he took warning, and you will have saved yourself."

22 The hand of the LORD was upon me there, and he said to me, "Get up and go out to the plain, and there I will speak to you."

23 So I got up and went out to the plain. And the glory of the LORD was standing there, like the glory I had seen by the Kebar River, and I fell facedown.

24 Then the Spirit came into me and raised me to my feet. He spoke to me and said: "Go, shut yourself inside your house.

25 And you, son of man, they will tie with ropes; you will be bound so that you cannot go out among the people.

26 I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so that you will be silent and unable to rebuke them, though they are a rebellious house.

27 But when I speak to you, I will open your mouth and you shall say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says.' Whoever will listen let him listen, and whoever will refuse let him refuse; for they are a rebellious house.

& Romans 10

5Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them."[a]

6But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down)

7"or 'Who will descend into the deep?'[c]" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).

8But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,"[d] that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming:

9That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

11As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."[e]

12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentileâ€â€the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,

13for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."[f]

14How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

15And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"[
g]

16But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our message?"[h]

17Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

18But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did:
"Their voice has gone out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world."

19Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says,
"I will make you envious by those who are not a nation;
I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding."[j]

20And Isaiah boldly says,
"I was found by those who did not seek me;
I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me."[k] 21But concerning Israel he says,
"All day long I have held out my hands
to a disobedient and obstinate people."[

Timely Word 4 Today:-

Preach The Gospel!

I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.

Philemon 1:6,7 NIV

________________

Though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.

1 Peter 1:8,9 NASB

Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

1 Corinthians 9:26,27 NIV

Thanks be unto God for His wonderful gift:
Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God
is the object of our faith; the only faith that
saves is faith in Him.

Weekly Meditation 7/15 - 7/21 - I Repent CEV

"No One Can Oppose You"

Job said:

No one can oppose you,
because you have the power
to do what you want.

You asked why I talk so much
when I know so little.
I have talked about things
that are far beyond
my understanding.

You told me to listen
and answer your questions.
I heard about you from others;
now I have seen you
with my own eyes.

Job 42:1-5 CEV

Timely Word 4 Today:-

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now is the Day of Salvation

We then, as workers together with Him also plead
with you not to receive the grace of God in vain.

For He says:

"In an acceptable time I have heard you,
And in the day of salvation I have helped you."

Behold, NOW is the accepted time;
Behold, NOW is the day of salvation.

2 Corinthians 6:1,2 NKJV

_________________

Since we have NOW been justified by his blood,
how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath
through him!

For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled
to him through the death of his Son, how much more,
having been reconciled, shall we be saved through
his life!

Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through
our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now
received reconciliation.

Romans 5:9-11 NIV

_________________

There is therefore NOW no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

Romans 8:1,2 NKJV

Last Days? Meditation 7/29 - 8/04 ESV

Last Days?

Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man. They were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot--they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all-- so will it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

On that day, let the one who is on the housetop, with his goods in the house, not come down to take them away, and likewise let the one who is in the field not turn back. Remember Lot's wife. Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will keep it.

Luke 17:26-33 ESV
