Uncle Bud served WWII in the Pacific and Korea. He survived POW camp...Good and honorable man.
 
the navy and corps are well under the same funding. but that is besides the point.

i will remember my family that i know that did serve. grandpa harry, greatgreat uncle joe, great uncle arthur and also my great uncle marshall.
 
Uncle Leon was a soldier in WW II. If I remember right, he fought in northern France: he landed at D+4 (after the Normandy invasion), he lost his leg on a land mine in St. Lo. He was in the minefield for an entire night before they could recover him.
 
Remembering my father who served in the Merchant Marines in WWII and whose ship was torpedoed in the Atlantic. After being told after the war that Merchant Mariners would not be eligible for future drafts....He was drafted and served in the US Army during the Korean War.
