thanks for this and your other hymn-related posts. seriously. im not old fashioned by any stretch of the imagination, but i do kind of find some 'contemporary christian music' to be....lacking, i suppose. not saying that to be too harsh and/or judgmental, just...'it is what it is,' basically. and so...

there's power in The Name of Jesus, and I think there's a subtle power in the words of these hymns you've seen fit to post lately. Seriously.

Glad you like them! I grew up in church singing these songs and as a young adult too. I've been out of church for a while but looking up these words brings it all back.
I know what you mean about contemporary music. I've gotten into Southern Gospel a little but even some of those can be more sappy than they are based in the truth of the Bible.

yeah...--nothing-- against more modern, pop culture-informed sorts of Christian music, but...--sigh--...not a fan. maybe its because of my tastes in music before I got saved? I dunno.

Anyway...thanks. I grew up on the liberal end of Presby, so I didn't hear hymns like this...and then the pentecostals were more on the contemporary end of things, so personally, this is also kind of new and...refreshing.
