Torah study 3 is up, for anyone who may be interested.

The meaning of Torah word is here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torah and most people around the world refer to it as the "Five Books of Moses" Genesis,Exodus,Leviticus,Numbers,Deuteronomy

Wikipedia said:
The meaning of the word is therefore "teaching", "doctrine", or "instruction"; the commonly accepted "law" gives a wrong impression.

All of these words are better translations than "law". The word "Torah" can refer to either the 5 books of Moses (aka the Pentateuch) or to the instructions contained within those books. Besides the names "Pentateuch" and "Books of Moses), people also refer to the first 5 books of the Bible as "the Law", probably sometimes without knowing what exactly they are referring to, as in the phrase "the law and the prophets". In Hebrew the word "law" in that phrase is "Torah".

psalms 82 isn't in the law yet Jesus said that It was. why is that?

If I understand correctly, Jews sometimes use the word Torah to refer to the entire Hebrew scriptures.

But they did die.

Gen 5:5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

Yahweh didn't say they would die on the very day they sinned.

Eve started it remember :D

Gen 2:16-17 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, (17) but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."

oh lord. that is redacted by the rambam when he mentions david telling Solomon whom to kill for their crimes. the idea here is that adam and eve were judged and waited punishement at the good pleasure of the King of the Universe.
edited out saul and corrected with solomon

The studies I'm posting in the blog section are mostly unedited Bible studies I did a while back for a relatively new Christian (She'd been in church for a while, but hadn't gotten much good teaching). Because of that, I didn't go into a lot of detail most of the time. Of course God doesn't lie. We all know that. If He said they would die, then they died. But they didn't die physically the day they ate the fruit. We, who have read what the Bible says about dieing to self, dieing to sin", being dead in our sins and other contexts where the concept of death is used, realize that physical death is not the only type of death there is. Adam and Eve only knew about physical death. So, when they didn't die physically, it would have been understandable for them to conclude that God was keeping something from them. The truth is that they died in a number of ways that day. They died spiritually, they started dieing physically and the close fellowship they had had with God since their creation died.

And I would like to add that agua. is right. Adam was doing fine until Eve made him dinner. (TOG sits back and waits for the fireworks to begin. :pepsican:popcorn )

that is about how i see it...

Mat_10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
