Bible Study Torah study

You caused me to think of something. Are we called to be types of Christ?
Yes, like this:

"20...if when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God. 21 For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, 22 who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth; 23 and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24 and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed." (1 Peter 2:20-24 NASB)

When we bear other people's abuse patiently and without sinning we are walking in our calling and following the example that Christ left for us to follow. When we do that we are the instruments of God's grace that we all say we want to be.

Mom told me years ago "you may be the only Bible some one reads.... "

The Arks are a type of Christ...

That's a great description. If we have God's word written on our hearts we are an ark.

You were so fortunate to have a truly Christian mom and dad. They were blessed by God and showed their thanks to Him in the way that they raised their children.

and and answer to how the jews might have understood being born again. they surely knew that verse and also the idea of being children of the YHWH. and how that was done. by faith and following the commands of the Lord.is being born again that much different? faith and following the commands Christ gave.

No, I don't see it as that much different. I see it as a continuation in many ways.

This is true. Some people are called to die physically in the name of the Lord. Others are called to defend the life of others against evil even if it means they could loose their own.
The Lord works in mysterious ways.

And it goes way beyond this.

It includes any situation where we are tempted by people's wrong doing to be impatient, unforgiving, hateful, jealous, envious, proud, arrogant, divisive, full of rage, vengeful, etc. IOW, the day to day, moment to moment life of the Christian.

Yes it does. We are called to be Christ like. Which includes,
Galatians 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
