Tourny Time!

I was wondering how many of you out there just love this time of year. I look forward to March madness and Conference Tournys and the NCAA and NIT. Basketball on all day and underdogs winning games they shouldn't! Man I get excited.
  • Let me ask some question. Who is your favorite team? Who do you like to win the championship? Who are some "sleepers" you like in the tournament?

I am an alumni of Oklahoma State - so I'm definitely pushing for them. They have a pretty good team this year - but I doubt they can win the national championship. The ACC is a completely different league. They might get to the final four, though, with an upset or two.

I, too, LOVE March Madness. Underdogs, buzzer beaters, upsets, brackets...

I guess it would be wise for me to answer my own questions.
  • I am an Alabama Crimson Tide fan. We probably will get in the NCAA tourny and might win a game or two and that is the limit of our chances.
I think several teams have a realistic chance at winning it all. Teams like Duke, UNC, Stanford and UCONN have very good teams. I would not be surprised if a team like OK State or Gonzaga make a deep run into the tourny and even play for the title.
  • I am still undecided about which "cinderella" teams might pull a shocker. I just hope several of them do. I would love to see a #16 seed beat a #1 seed although the chances of that are almost impossible.

I usually don't watch march madness until the final four unless there's a local team in it. I think this year is going to be big though, lot's of upsets. I'll take all the underdogs. :D I first became interested in it when Cleveland State made a run one year in the Eighties as the last team selected nocking off # one Indiana with the run and stun. Now that was fun. Watched Ohio State with J. Jackson make it pretty far too. I agree about the upsets, love to see the underdog win.

My first round upset is Manhattan over Florida. Florida has a good team but if Roberson is off they are not as good. Yea, I think Murray State has an excellent chance to pull the upset.
  • My final four picks are Kentucky, Duke, UConn and Pitt.

My first round upsets are:

Pacific over Providence
Utah over Boston College
Nevada over Mich St
Manhattan over Florida
S. Carolina over Memphis
Louisville over Xavier
BYU over Syracuse
Dayton over Depaul

Probably not all will win, but you gotta pick upsets to win the pools.
BYU is playing in the high altitude of Denver

My Final Four
Duke
Stanford
Zags
Wake Forest

As much as I want Oklahoma State to get there, Wake Forest is out of their league

Hey, at least OSU has the team to make a run at it. No one would be "surprised" if they make the final 4. My team, Bama, will be lucky to beat Southern Illinois and if they do they would face Stanford. OUCH! Anyway, ROLL TIDE ROLL

Two guys on Murray state were arrested. One of them is the starting guard. But, I hear he is still going to play in the turny. Still, it could effect the teams play.

Gonzaga upsets Kentucky. :o Yes, I said it. LOL

Gonzaga in the final four in the St. Louis region.

Texas El Paso could upset Maryland. Princeton could upset Texas.

Southern Illinois over Alabama.

How is everyone doing so far? I was 14-2 on Thursday and I have started 3 and 1 so far today. I have missed Nevada, Seton Hall and Memphis.

Usually I'm out of the running by know, I didnt pick all the games. out of the ones I did I got about one 25% wrong. I still think Gonzaga over Kentucky, maybe even all the way. Dayton got robbed, although they didn't help matters with the way they played.

I'm in 1,600,000 th place in the espn tourney challenge!

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the calls are very one sided in some of these games. Things that make you say hmmm.

I am in the 20,000 range on one of my espn brackets (dumb luck). The other four range from 100,000 to 2 million (more like me). I just can't believe my Tide beat Stanford. We were aggressive and got to the free throw line while Stanford settled for to many jump shots. If Stanford would have taken it to the hole, they would have won.
  • With UAB and Nevada and Xavier and other "underdogs" winning, this is what makes March madness one of the greatest times in sports.
