OK. So, the culture tells you to be tough and make it on your own. Christ tells you to give it over to him, for His burden is easy and His yoke is light.

As per usual, Christianity is counter-cultural, no matter the culture it finds itself in. Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against powers and principalities....

...and we all know who rules the world systems :-(

So, how do you apply this gem to your walk, to your life? My older, wiser, Pentecostal friend, Verna, has been quoting this verse to me a lot lately, so its been on my mind.

OK. In your walk, how has this verse played out for you?

The more political I've become, the more I've realized how true the verse is. There are forces at work in our government that aren't human.

My answer is held in these scriptures:

Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Rom 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

How am I persuaded, by the verses below:

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Col 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Col 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Col 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Col 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

The more political I've become, the more I've realized how true the verse is. There are forces at work in our government that aren't human.

Truth, and then all you have to do is remember Roman's 13:1, and you know whose really in charge :)
