Bible Study Truth

We live in a predictable time for this world... for those that have sat down, prayed for and received the Holy Spirit and then read the Bible to learn about this God that has given them Eternal Life. But, there lays the problem. It's so much trouble to be saved and then that book goes on forever.

And the gray headed of fossil pulled his tongue out of his cheek, grinned and drove his wheelchair off into the shadows.

Yep, it takes fifteen to twenty minutes a day to read the Bible in a year... big inconvenience, isn't it? So, instead, as a nation, we sit in a church building for about an hour on Sunday Morning, sng a couple of songs we do not know the words to and then listen to a softer version of Jim Jones as he tickles our ears and explains to us that everyone is going to Heaven.

LORD, your people are very few, no wonder it is taking two thousand years to fill all the rooms in your house.

Renewing the mind is a lifetime process; it becomes a lifestyle. Stay firm when your faith is tested.

so what or who exactly is the problem - who told you or tells you to read the Bible when in fact you are supposed to study it "to see if these things be so" - just forget about the the Jim Jones and all and all of this world - then as even now flesh and blood cannot reveal the truths to us but only our Father in heaven - for some say this and some say that and some say this that and the other but as it was revealed to Peter then it is revealed even now - so where Peter is there the truth will be found revealed by God - twinc

As I indicated in the OP, there is not a moment in your life, in aq year, not even a moment of a minute that is not to be devoted to God and since Satan can and does seek to influence us by pretending to be our LORD, anything that is done or occurs in our live needs to be comfirmed with scripture or rejected. Other wise you end up with a cup full of Kool-Aide or in a basement in Waco.

Yes! A man shall live, by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God!

Its a good life in His Word:thumbsup

Mr. Taylor,
That is a cynical way of looking at this younger generation, is'nt it? Some people, perhaps like yourself, spend the first few hours of every day feasting on the Prime Rib we call the Holy Bible, but not everyone has the same appetite as you might. IF the Holy Spirit is dwelling in us, we delight in reading our Father's Word every day, BUT sadly, He is not dwelling in all of us. With those childen we can only plant seeds and hope that the LORD gives the increase. We might know what they SHOULD be doing, but we must trust in the LORD that He knows what He is doing.

I think the Biblical terminology you use of renewing the mind is called Sanctification, the process of becoming more like Jesus every day.

Recommendations and Guidelines for an effective Bible Study

Though not exhaustive, I thought it might help to better define the purpose of the Bible Study Forum, and by doing so, better assist one another with a clearer method to understanding God’s word.

Guidelines

1. Scripture is the basis of study. Stay close to the text.
2. Keep your post to a manageable length where others can respond to a section of scripture as opposed to an entire article.
3. We encourage your understanding of a text. If you wish to post snipits from a website, please make sure it accompanies your comments of the text. Excessive copy / paste from web sites are frowned upon.
4. If you disagree with an interpretation of scripture, think out your response according to the specific text and post accordingly.
5. No debating doctrines or denominational differences. (E.G. TULIP, OSAS, Purgatory, Papacy etc)

The following considerations are suggested to assist in our study of Holy Scripture. This method utilizes an instructional and comprehensive approach

1. Exegesis; Critical explanation or analysis, especially of a text. (I.E. What does the text mean?)
2. Hermeneutics; The theory and methodology of interpretation, especially of scriptural text. (I.E. How did you come to the conclusion of your Exegesis? Does it agree with the Bible as a whole?)
3. Redaction; to draw up or frame ( I.E. a statement, proclamation, etc.)
