Type 1 & 2 diabetes

I was leading a life of a man who worked 53-60 hours a week, at 49 years old, and I was always tired. Now I am 17 lbs lighter, and blood sugar levels are down at 120 staying there. My energy level is great, but I get up before my alarm, and my wife and I are walking 2-3 miles every evening. I am losing weight little by little ever day. Even my doctor is astounded all my tests, and they used to be borderline and bad. Now it's like I'm 30 again. IsAgenix is as good as they claim, and University of Chicago tested them. They are legit.

I guess I'm joining the ranks of diabetics as well....

After a couple of years of unsuccessfully treating a chronic congestion condition with bouts of Prednisone, my blood work last week showed a fasting blood sugar of 188.

As of now, I'm going strict diet and exercise route and not on any medications. Simple solution, I'm not eating or drinking anything that has sugar or corn syrup in it and I'm limiting the more complex carbs to 150 per day +/-. I've been at this a week now and my fasting blood sugar is down to 148. Hopefully, I'll be able to get this back under control without ever having to go on meds or insulin. I really don't want to go on the meds because one side affect of diabetes medications is weight gain and I deal with weigh enough as it is.

I know that the theory that Prednisone can cause diabetes is debated, but I find it interesting that now I've got diabetes... when the only real change in my life has been being put on Prednisone so many times in the last 12 months. The ear/nose/throat doc had me on it for about 2 months straight last January/February and that's when I began to show some of the symptoms... only I didn't realize they were symptoms of diabetes.

Now I'm dealing with this...and that chronic sinus congestion problem that I dealt with for the past two years, completely losing my sense of smell and causing asthma issues? Ear/nose/throat doc didn't do a thing for it. Week before last, when I was at my regular yearly check up with my general physician, he put me on a "shock and awe" treatment of several different meds that had been tried singularly...and it cleared right up within 4 days.

Sheesh... I'm not very happy with the medical profession right now.:nono2

Is celery still recommended for those who either are geneticly prone or border-line?
:lol. I am no expert, but I would be stunned if celery was off limits. I would suspect that a diabetic can eat all the celery they want.

Again, I am speaking without any authority....

Sorry to hear all this. Now you know why I'm so critical against drugs in all my posts. I'm not seeing the population any healthier, but rather worse despite the so-called drug advances. Yes, Prednisone does have the reputation of pushing one into diabetes. And if you notice, diabetes is "another" fad disease just like heart disease, cholesterol and cancer making headlines these days. If you take care of yourself, you can probably keep this under control as your markedly improved numbers already show. But yes, you have the right diet idea. Also reread my posts #5 and #14. Good luck.
