THE SOUNDING OF THE SEVEN TRUMPETS (Revelation 8:6—11:19)
There are some theories out there which say we are approaching the sixth trumpet war, originating from the area of the Euphrates River. However, I do not believe this to be true.

· The FIRST TRUMPET may have been one of the worst events in World War II -- Joseph Stalin and Adolph Hitler's "SCORCHED EARTH POLICY."
· The SECOND TRUMPET may have sounded in WORLD WAR II
· THIRD TRUMPET; The Russian word, "Chernobyl," means "Wormwood," as mentioned in these verses. It certainly appears that the third trumpet sounded on April 26, 1986

Consider the following;
The seals extend over a long period of time, and the trumpets also extend over a period of time (A shorter period of time). However, there is a difference between the trumpets and the seals. The seals will damage 1/4 of the earth (Rev. 6:8), while the trumpets will damage 1/3 third of the earth (8:7). The seals damage the earth gradually over a long period of time. The trumpets damaged the earth more significantly over a shorter period of time.

The seals are opened in heaven, while the trumpets are sounded on earth and maybe heard by everyone. The vials are physical and are not a mere sound. The opening of the seals is the judgment in the dispensation of grace. Only the believers know where these things such as famine, earthquake, and swords originate. They are not known to the unbelievers. Hence, they are hidden. The sounding of the trumpets signifies a change of dispensation; the dispensation of the gospel has ended. Chapter 8 is a declaration of war. The trumpets convey the sense of announcement, while the vials signify wrath.

By Revelation 7 the age of the church is over, and God has returned to the position of the Old Testament. Of course, as such, all the judgments have to be interpreted literally. Micah 7:15 says that God will execute judgment like He did in Egypt, only it will be a greater judgment (Isa. 11:15-16). Moreover, Jeremiah 23:7 and 8 say that God will execute a deliverance greater than that in Egypt. It therefore follows that the tribulations will be greater than those at the time of the exodus from Egypt.

God has to show men that He is Jehovah. In men's eyes, many calamities are only changes in nature. But to turn water into blood, and to turn only one third of it, proves that it is not a common change in nature. Rather, it has to be an act of God. The "hour of trial" in Revelation 3:10 is for the whole world Matthew 24:21-28. The "hour of trial" of Revelation 3:10 begins from the time of the first trumpet.

When God moves and takes action He does so in a big way. God has to show men that He is Jehovah. In men's eyes, many calamities are only changes in nature. God wants to let men know that the judgments of the trumpets are God’s doing and not calamities of nature or the actions of men.

Why do so many believe the six trumpets are about literal militant war? This would mean God has a full literal military in Heaven with bombs, missals, tanks, etc. etc. like that of what is here on earth. This is not so as when you read when each angel is called to sound their trumpet all Gods wrath comes down by His command from the third heaven where God sits on His throne.

The seven seals that only Jesus is worthy to open, Rev 5:1-5, span the next fifteen chapters of Revelation. Rev chapter six only explains the first six seals as in a brief scenario of what is about to take place during the timing of Gods seven trumpet and seven vial chastisements. Rev 8 begins the first woe as there are three woes in Revelations as each one is worse than the other. The first woe starts with the opening of the seventh seal in Rev 8:1 through Rev 9:12 that include the first five trumpets. The second woe starts in Rev 9:13 with the sixth trumpet and ends in Rev 11:14. The third woe starts with the seventh trumpet in Rev 11:15 ending in Rev 20:15.

Hopefully many will come back to God's grace through faith in Christ as they finally believe the Gospel being preached to them during the time of His fierce wrath upon those of disobedience as God would that none should perish, 2 Peter 3:9.
