Verse of the Day

The Lord says, "Come, everyone who is thirsty - here is water! .... Listen to me and do what I say, and you will enjoy the best food of all .... Listen now, my people, and come to me; come to me, and you will have life! ..."

.... Turn to the Lord and pray to him, now that he is near .... "My thoughts," says the Lord "are not like yours, and my ways are different from yours ....

The mountains and hills will burst into singing and the trees will shout for joy.

Isaiah 56: 1-3, 6, 8, 12

“But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.†- Galatians 4:4-5

“And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven†- Luke 1:76-78

My Sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never die. No-one can snatch them away from me. .... The Father and I are one. John 10: 27-28 & 30

I am the one who made the earth and created the human race to live there. By my power I stretched out the heavens; I control the sun, the moon, and the stars.

But he endured the suffering that should had been ours, the pain that we should have borne.

All the while we thought that his suffering was punishment sent by God. But because of our sins he was wounded, beaten because of the evil we did.

We are healed by the punishment he suffered, made whole by the blows he received.

All of us were like sheep that were lost, each of us going our own way.

But the Lord made the punishment fall on him, the punishment all of us deserved.

He was treated harshly but endured it humbly; he never said a word.

Like a lamb about to be slaughtered, like a sheep about to be sheared, he never said a word.

He was arrested and sentenced and led off and die and no-one cared about his fate.

He was put to death for the sins of our people.

He was placed in the grave with the wicked, he was buried with the rich, even though he never committed a crime or ever told a lie.

Isaiah 53: 4-9

Most days I'll see if I can post a verse taken from biblegateway.com - their verse of the day feature. These can be a great encouragement, and sometimes you didn't know they existed!
Or I might post a random verse that I think of. Anyone else, feel free to share!

Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if you hear his voice,â€Â- Psalm 95:6-7 (NIV)

EDIT: unless otherwise stated, all bible quotes will be using the NIV.

That's a shame Nick.. KJV?

Never again will they hunger or thirst; neither Sun nor scorching heat will burn them, because the Lamb, who is in the centre of the throne, will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of life giving water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

Revelation 7:16-17

This fits well with what the Lord Jesus said in John 4, to the woman at Sychar's well, when He spoke of the 'water springing up to everlasting life'.

Yep :) ...

Jesus answered, "All those who drink this water will be thirst again, but whoever drinks the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring which will provide him with life-giving water and give him eternal life."
"Sir", the woman said, "give me that water! ..."

John 4:13-15

Yes, Amen, and may we ever feel the need to drink from those waters by faith, day by day, by His grace.

The Lord created the heavens - he is the one who is God! He formed and made the earth - he made it firm and lasting. He did not make it a desolate waste, but a place for people to live in. It is he who says, "I am the Lord and there is no other god. I have not spoken in secret or kept my purpose hidden. ... I am the Lord and I speak the truth; I make known what is right."

Isaiah 45: 18-19.

“Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.†Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.â€â€ - Luke 2:11-14

His splendour covers the heavens; and the earth is full of his praise. He comes with the brightness of lightning; light flashes from his hand, ... When he stops, the earth shakes; at his glance the nations tremble. The eternal mountains are shattered; the everlasting hills sink down, the hills where he walked in ancient times.

Habakkuk 3: 3-4 & 6

You are like the light for the whole world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden. No-one lights a lamp and put it under a bowl; instead he puts it on the lampstand, where it gives light for everyone in the house. In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your father in heaven.

Matthew 5:14-16

To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for, to be certain of the things we cannot see. ... It is by faith that we understand that the earth was created by God's word, so that what can be seen was made out of what cannot be seen. ... No-one can please God without faith ...

Hebrews 11: 1,3,6

“[Treasures in Heaven] “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.†- Matthew 6:19-21

John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

Lord your constant love reaches the heavens; your faithfulness extends to the skies. Your righteousness is towering like the mountains; your justice is like the depths of the sea. People and animals are in your care.

How precious, O God is your constant love! We find protection under the shadow of your wings. We feast on the abundant food you provide; you let us drink from the river of your goodness.
You are the source of all life, and because of your light we see the light.

Psalms 36: 5-9
