Bible Study Vital spiritual gifts - & why

Jesus commissioned even the 70 to heal the sick & cast out demons

Acts 1-28 is full of miracles proving the truth of the Great Commission promise to 'confirm the word preached with signs & wonders following'

Jesus said, "The same works as I do, you shall do & even greater"

Acts never featured children being used of God to open blind eyes & deaf ears & to raise the dead in Jesus' mighty name

But this climax generation of all history - begun with the oft-prophesied rebirth of Israel - has seen many such miracles in answer to children's fervent prayers

12 to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up

Turning Back


Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced at what God had brought about for his people. . . (NIV) 2 Chronicles 29:36

In times of Biblical revival, God turned His people's hearts back to Himself. A common condition prior to most of the Biblical revivals was a period of severe spiritual decline. An example of this is seen in 2 Chronicles 28-32 with the revival under Hezekiah.

The people of Judah had willfully rejected God's prophets and had forgotten His merciful dealings with them in the past. It was a time of gross idolatry as the people worshipped Baal as the god of productivity and the lord of abundance and Molech by sacrificing their own children to appease this false god. The people had cast aside all restraints and immorality was running rampant. . . they had completely forgotten God.

It was at this time that God revealed Himself as hope and revived His people under King Hezekiah. In each of the Biblical revivals, God began to stir one of His servant's hearts and that person then became His instrument to awaken His people. God consistently found one man who was obedient to Him and who walked in His ways. That leader called the people back to God.

Where do you see Christians willfully rejecting God? How has the church worshipped false idols? What restraints have you cast off? How have you forgotten God?

Is God stirring your heart to speak on His behalf to His people? Do you long to be one of His instruments used to awaken His people? Could it be that God will use you to turn others back to Himself? He's willing to use all who are available. . . that may just be you!
